About NIMROD:
NIMROD was the first computer built to play a game (in 1951!). This package is a simulation of the machine, together with extensive background documentation.
Almost exactly fifty years ago -- 5 May 1951 -- the Ferranti NIMROD Digital Computer was first presented to the public, at the Exhibition of Science in South Kensington, London, part of that year's Festival of Britain.
NIMROD did just one thing -- play the game of 'NIM' -- but it also exposed its workings on large displays, to give the spectators some idea of how those novel 'computer' things worked.
This program simulates that old machine as exactly as possible (and it seemed only fair to use the most modern OS to do it (grin)).
Even internally, the logic is performed by 'Gates' and 'Flip-flops' just as in the original. The package also contains background information of the machine -- including the complete text of the original booklet published at the time.
(Don't expect fast action, multi-colour, 3-D play here...
This is 1951, remember!)
