About GMP:
This is a quick build of the GNU multiple-precision library. It is a more up-to=date version of the library as built by Julien Cayzac, and is also built as a shared library.
GNU MP is a library for arbitrary precision arithmetic, operating on signed integers, rational numbers, and floating point numbers. It has a rich set of functions, and the functions have a regular interface. This BeOS version is implemented as a shared library, so non-programmers may install it on their machine as required, while programmers may freely develop with it under the conditions of the GNU license.
In accordance with the LGPL I have included the full source code in gmp-3.1.1.zip. Minimal changes were needed to produce a shared library on BeOS x86, nothing more than a more recent version of libtool with a small modification to allow the --enable-shared configuration to successfully produce libgmp.so.

Details about this version:
Version 4.0 includes better optimizations for particular processors, including Pentium-IV (the archive contains only binaries compatible for all Pentium-class processors, you *should* rebuild to optimize for your particular system and you will require an uplevel assembler and/or compiler). Other new features include a C++ wrapper, printf and scanf variations for multiprecision, a perl wrapper, and numerous new functions and improvements of existing ones. Visit the GMP site for more details.
