About NiftyPlayer:
Small media player, with support for video overlay (even for DivX), full screen mode.
NiftyPlayer (aka nplay) is a simple media player drived from Be's mplay sample code.
I was in search for a media player that could play DivX movies on my low-end hardware (K6-II 350), and either MediaPlayer was just stucked and didn't support RGB32 overlay (the only one the DivX decoder handles), either VideoPro was running half speed.
So here it is.
Features:
- Supports every movie/sound type the media kit handles (including MPEG, DivX ;-), OpenDivX, MP3...)
- Full screen mode (with screensaver desactivation, thanks to stampTV source)
- Seeking DivX works (but takes time since since it has to read from the beginning)
- Switch between the 3 drawing mode (DrawBitmap, DirectWindow, and hardware overlay) on the fly

Details about this version:
(phantom release)
- FIXED a nasty bug that prevented magic overlay to work
- magic overlay now tries to convert first from RGB32 to RGB16 which is takes less CPU
- keyboard control with volume control and CL-Amp style shortcuts
- drag-n-drop in the player window (reusing it; dropping more than one file opens the others in other windows)
Long live BeOS !
