About PHoss:
PHoss is a sniffer designed to find HTTP, FTP, LDAP, Telnet, IMAP4 and POP3 logins/passwords on your network. It also sniffs the VNC challenge/response handshake.
Compiled for BeOS BONE.
It works by monitoring the machine you are running it from, so any connections to and from that machine will be scanned.
Installation Instructions:
- Install the package
- Open a Terminal session and run PHoss -v and leave it running
- to test it, check your email from the BeOS PC you are running PHoss on
- check the output from PHoss
- become paranoid about being able to see your userid and password in clear text
- write a secure email client for BeOS :-P
- now try FTP'ing (or Telnet etc etc) to another site - you'll also see your userid and password in the PHoss output
The PHoss homepage is here. I have the authors' permission to post the PHoss binary i compiled for BeOS.
If you have any questions, email me at peter@loved.com.
Enjoy!
