About BONE Ident Daemon:
This is a simple Ident Daemon compiled to run on BeOS running BONE 7a - Intel. This is required to access some IRC networks when using BeOS/Bone for NAT!
This is an ident daemon for BeOS. Why an Ident daemon? I had
problems connecting to several IRC servers because my identd
requests were not getting through my Server (which was running
NAT). You may have had this problem too if you have made use of
the most excellent "ipalias" tool. So just enable idendtd at your
server right? Well, there isn't one just yet. Bone is a BETA,
remember? Although there are all three standard "auth" services
in your Boneyard preferences, none of them actually work.
This is a cheap edit of Brian Youngs Null Identd service for *nix.
I found that most ident daemon's are pretty complicated. And for
IRC servers to require something so trivial just irritates me. At
any rate, I simply modified the source to ignore the fact that UID's
and GID's make absolutely no sense to BeOS. :-)
This has only been tested on BONE 7a for Intel, but it may work on other variations as well. The modified source is included (for your pleasure).
This is the first, last, and only version. Hopefully, BeOS will see another release, and it will include a REAL ident daemon.
