About LevelEdit:
An open-source, easy-to-use level editor with a very simple file format! Great for people developing their own videogames that don't want to go through the trouble of writing their own level editors.
This program is actually part of a community-created MMORPG (I'm apparently the lead programmer because I'm such a cool guy). The .MLE format is very easy to understand. It lacks animations, and you have to do collision detection manually (meaning inside of your game because the format doesn't do anything but place static tiles), but other than that it's a fairly nice level format.
Don't let the level editor's limitations limit you! Since it's open, add collision detection and animations into the format! Or if you're like me, code your way around it in the game itself!
This level editor uses the Allegro library, so if you don't have it, go download it at alleg.sf.net. I suggest Allegro 4.1.8 (the current latest version as of 1/13/03), as it has many bugfixes that are BeOS-specific.
