Usage instructions

To convert just one DBX file to BeMail:

dbxconv -f file.dbx -o outputdir

To convert all your Outlook Express emails to BeMail:

dbxconv -d inputdir -o outputdir

• dbxconv creates one file for every email in the mailbox.
• The BeMail files will be named "subject timestamp sender". Subject and sender will be truncated to 64 chars to prevent the filename from becoming too large. Characters that the file system is not able to handle are replaced by underscores.
• The output directory must exist or you'll get an error message.
• Large mailboxes (i.e. several megabytes) may take a little while to process.
• Newsgroups are converted as well, but these emails will in most cases only contain headers, not the message body.
• Not all BeMail attributes are currently being set, only the most important ones. Want more? Add them yourself -- this program is open source after all ;-)
