About shellbot:
Shellbot is a MUSCLE/BeShare compatible 'bot' program that acts as a gateway between BeShare and any interactive command line application you care to run. I developed this bot so that I could play Zork and similar text games via BeShare.
Shellbot is a MUSCLE/BeShare compatible bot program that acts as a gateway between BeShare and any
interactive command line application you care to run. That is, once you start up shellbot, any commands
typed by BeShare users will be forwarded over to the specified command-line application's stdin stream, and
any text generated by the command line application on stdout will be displayed on the BeShare server's chat
area, by the bot.
I developed this bot so that I could play Zork and similar text games via BeShare, but it's likely to be useful for any situation where you have an interactive command line program that you'd like people to be able to access publically, via BeShare.
NOTE: This bot has been tested under Linux and BeOS/BONE.
It may or may not run correctly under other OS's,
depending on how the OS implements Pseudoterminals.
It DEFINITELY WILL NOT work correctly under BeOS
with net_server!
