About SqueekySynth:
A BeOS-native sample-based software synthesizer that loads Soundfont 2.1 multisample files, and presents itself as a standard MIDI device to BeOS. It can also load wave files, for playing across the keyboard.
Based on a customized version of the FluidSynth software library, SqueekySynth features dual integrated effects processors, high quality interpolation, sub-millisecond latency, 32 parts multitimbrality and sample rates up to 96KHz.
Coupled with high-quality Soundfont sample libraries, SqueekySynth makes a flexible sample playback module for composing original music, or even listening to General MIDI files.
With the aid of tools on other platforms, popular sample libraries in other formats (Akai*, E-mu*, Gigasampler*, Kontakt*, etc.) can be converted to Soundfont* files, for use in SqueekySynth.

SIDE NOTE: In addition to improving SqueekySynth, I am also in the process of designing a MIDI sequencer for BeOS (which may or may not include hard disk recording features).
If you are a musician, some feedback on required features, user interface design, etc. would be extremely valuable at this stage, before the design is finalized.
