If you want a good looking deskbar then download Crystal Aero Blue Deskbar mod, you will enjoy it! The installer is light, fast and an uninstall option is available. Works with all versions of BeOS from R5 and up. Haiku as well.

I created this because I liked the Inspirate Deskbar so I made another that is more improved and has a button like click feature.
The proper names of the parts I modified were the:
kBeLogoBits
R_TeamIcon
The BeLogoBits dimensions are 60x24, as well with the 60x24 TeamIcon. Except this time, I made the BeLogo 60x25 and the TeamIcon 190x25! This is how the button effect is achieved.
This is how I created the project:
I took an image of it from the web and copied out the parts I wanted. I ended up by doing a 'trick mod' to the deskbar, and you get a cool feature: when you click to expand the BeMenu (kBeLogoBits) the BeOS button gets 'depressed' like when you click a real button. What I did was make the R_TeamIcon 190pixels wide and I put the BeOS icon in the proper places to make this trick happen.
Then I proceeded to tweak the position of the small BeOS logo to make sure that when I clicked on the BeMenu that it looks like an actual button is being pressed.
Message to the user:
The deskbar must be in any of these locations to have the intended effect:
B_DESKBAR_LEFT_BOTTOM, B_DESKBAR_RIGHT_BOTTOM, B_DESKBAR_RIGHT_TOP, B_DESKBAR_LEFT_TOP
The program used was 'deskbar' http://bebits.com/app/3301 the command used was 'deskbar --location' .
To move the deskbar, grap the edge part with the perforations/light colored dots on it. When clicked it highlights dark grey and the deskbar can be moved around from there.
