About RuBMidi:
An extension library for Ruby that allows real-time MIDI input and output via the R5 MidiKit.
FIX THE GODDAMN INPUT MAGE AND I WILL ENTER A DESCRIPTION!!!!
Meanwhile you can look at the included README for details.
I will not be adding anything more to BeBits until the infinite-backslash problem is fixed. I don't need the aggravation...
----------------
Of course the above flame was intended to try to get some attention.
Unfortunately, the only reaction so far has been from the wrong people -- someone who did not appreciate the language... or, it seems, the problem...!
So I will try to explain a bit more, to give some context for my frustration. The thing is, it has become impossible to enter descriptions that use either quotes or apostrophes, because that immediately initiates an endless iteration of escaping backslashes. (This never happened until perhaps a year or so back.) Not only does this make things hard to read, it foils any attempt to insert, say, a web page link (which would have been very helpful for the current app, which is related to a couple of others). I am not alone in suffering -- see the MUSCLE page for another example.
[The above explosion was because I had spent considerable time crafting a useful description, but found an extreme case of the backslash plague when I saw the final result, then spent another half hour fruitlessly trying to fix things... NOW, I have just noticed that the few backslashes that originally crept in here have vanished again one by one! So maybe there IS a cure, but WHAT?]
I have tried mailing BeBits #support# [take those as quotes...], but as far as I can tell no one is at the helm. I have been hoping the captain would show up on the bridge occasionally, but so far it seems not.
I do, of course, appreciate BeBits and its long-time service, but this silly glitch does not help anybody, and I expect would be easy to fix if someone paid attention.
