About DeskCD:
DeskCD is a FlexiCD/QuickCD clone. It sits in your Deskbar and lets you control audio CDs by clicking on the icon. A right-click menu also lets you eject the disc, change the track, change the volume and display track information. Put it in your UserBootscript, and it will know not to start playing as you boot up.
***WARNING: Use at your own risk. Sometimes the right-click menus have a tendency to crash the Deskbar. I recommend installing BackOnTrack or Geb's ProcessController. If you use ProcessController, keep a replicant on the Desktop.***

Clicking on the icon changes variables and reloads the icon, so the tooltip always reflects what will happen if you click on it again (e.g., Play, Pause, Resume), and now the icon reflects the status of the CD. A simple alert box pops up when you want to change the volume, and it REMEMBERS what you had the CD volume set at, even after rebooting (so you never get blasted unless YOU leave the volume on high). Smart.
The right-click menu contains commands to:
--change to the next or previous track (it pops up an alert box if you try to go beyond the last track or play "track 0")
--mute/unmute the CD volume (remembers the level it was set at before being muted, again, so you never get blasted unless YOU set the volume too high)
--pop up an alert box to change the CD volume (up or down)
--play the CD from the beginning
--stop the CD
--eject the CD tray
--pop up an alert box showing track info and what track is currently playing (or paused)
--exit DeskCD (removes the icon from the Deskbar, doesn't stop the CD)
Yessiree, ladies and gentlemen, this here is a clever little guy. It's a set of bash shell scripts that serve as a front-end for the command-line "play" command, and use the "desklink" command to put (and change) the icon in the Deskbar. Symlinks to all the scripts are put in /boot/home/config/bin, so most of the commands that are available in the right-click menu are also available in the Terminal.
