About BePhoney:
Allows you to receive faxes, accept incoming data calls and even turn a voice modem into an answering machine.
This program handles incoming calls. To use all the features, you will need a ZyXEL, USRobotics or Rockwell based voice modem. With a voice modem, you can collect CallerID information, answer incoming voice calls, play a greeting and record a message from your caller.
Plus, the modem will detect an incoming fax call or can switch to data mode to allow people to dial into your machine.
With a fax class 2.0 modem you can receive incoming faxes and display them on your screen. You can print them on any printer you have a device driver for or save individual pages as bitmaps using a Translator. Although BePhoney may work with a class 2 fax modem, it is not fully supported at this time and seems to not work in my testing. Class 2.0 does seem to work however.
With only a data modem, you can use this program to dial into your machine and log in from a remote location.

Details about this version:
I finally found the crashing bug with BePhoney under R5 and I have worked around it in this version. See bug 20000615-20390 for more details. No new features here really, but it does seem to work reliably under R5 again. Sorry for the long time to find this.
For PPC owners, check out v1.7.2 under the version history. I did not release a new PPC version because of a lack of feedback and the crashing bug doesn't occur on it.
