VorbisEncoder now uses the quality setting for VBR rather than bitrates.
Bitrate support is still enabled but the Quality setting should give files
that sound better at the same bitrate. The default quality is 4.5 which gives
files that avarage around 128 bps
Finally updated the source in the SourceForge CVS repository.

We've moved on to RC2 for the vorbis libraries (there was no RC1
encoder so I didn't bother with RC1). Basically the new bits are,
channel coupling, new bitrates and a move towards easy bitrate
peeling which means that the bitrate for a file can be reduced by
simply reading the packets in a slightly different way, good for
broadcasting, not much use for us.
VorbisEncoder has been modified to use the new bitrates,
channel coupling is automatic.

The vorbis Libraries have moved on to Beta 4 are
are now licenced under the BSD licence.
The vorbis libraries are more efficient, and would be even more
efficient if we had a more up to date version of GCC.
VorbisEncoder will now encode any 16 bit WAV file, including mono
and non 44100 WAV's. Note the bitrate and qualilty of vorbis files
encoded from none 16bit 44100 WAV's is not necessarily what
you asked for.

The Vorbis libraries have been updated to vorbis beta3.
This version is more efficient and has had a some minor bug fixes.
The included programs all use the shared version of the libraries.
If you use the Vorbis Codecs you must update these too, so for
this time only I've included them in the Tools package.
decoder_example has been removed from the archive,
as CL-AMP, SoundPlayer and MediaPlayer can
all play Vorbis files with appropriate plugins/codecs.
VorbisTools Codecs package included in binaries archive.
Pentuim Pro / Pentium II optimized version available.
The source archive has a project for a static version
of the CL-AMP plugin. This was created in order
for Claes Löfqvist to include the plugin with CL-AMP.

New command line opition --bitrate, supported bitrates are 128, 160, 192, 256 and 350
New Bitrate Menu , supports the same bitrates as the command line option.
Once in CD mode you can now just drop a CD icon on VorbisEncoder to encode all the tracks.

All tools brought up to the latest versions of the Ogg Vorbis code.
This is the beta version of the Vorbis codec.
VorbisEncoder now adds better comments to the vorbis files when working in CD mode.
The comments follow the vorbis commenting standard, so should be valid for any of the plugins that play vorbis files.
The CL-AMP plugin as been updated to use these comments
to display the artist, track name and album name.

VorbisEncoder
Significant speed increase at the command line and a small speed
increase from the desktop, bringing them inline with each other.
Brought back stdin and stdout, but as options this time, for piping
and redirecting.
Encoder now checks that the WAV file is suitable for conversion.
i.e. its 16bit, 44100Hz and stereo.
CL-AMP plugin.
No longer falls over in you try to play a Vorbis file in the playlist that you've moved.
You now get the play time in the play list.
