Version 2.0
 License:   Dewware
 Updated:   May 22, 2001

in order of importance:

  • 8Slots can now load and save sample sets
  • cleaned code up a bit
  • You can now change the MIDI port name
  • and mute all samples
  • 8Slots will now stop a sample at the according MIDI event
  • made sure that 8Slots generates a unique MIDI port name, should make running multiple instances of 8Slots much more convinient!
  • 8Slots remembers the window position in saved files (there is still no global settings file though)

  • added support for playback from disk, that means that samples as large as you want can be played back now. The latency is not really noticable. BFileGameSound is better than I expected...
8Slots still uses BSimpleGameSounds (RAM) if they're small enough.

Version 1.1 - real thing

This is very emberassing, but true - I forgot to put the new binary into the last update. The only thing new in it was the readme. Please take my appologies (Only one guy noticed, though!). This is it, finally. In case you missed out on the release notes last time, it features usage of the new MidiKit in R5, and the port menu has been removed, since there is no use for it anymore. It is now a whole lot easier to connect to various existing MIDI sequencer software. MeV and Sequitur come to mind... :-)
