The campus GUI that was included with version 3.0 contained a bug. Sorry that this has happened, please be sure to upgrade to version 3.0.1 which contains a fixed verion of the preferences program.

The new final 3.0 release is the result of a major rewrite of campus. Be sure to download the latest version if you are using an alpha of 3.0.

Features:

  • GUI preferences program based on fGUI.
  • campus maintains a download counter and other attributes on files. Maintaining of attributes can be configured on a per-user basis or globally.
  • Extensions to support the transmission of the extended attributes of the BeFS.

This release is the beginning of a partial redesign of campus. More new features will be included in following releases.
  • The network performance of campus has been improved due to an optimized buffer handling.
  • Bugfix: Resolving hostnames for the logfile was broken. Regrettably I lost the EMail address of the person that reported the bug :(

campus is a full featured ftp server - compliant to the Internet standard documents RFC 959 and 1123. It is built upon the same fast and multithreaded framework that is used in diner. Although BeOS doesn't support multiple users, campus has both multiple users and groups which allow easier configuration. Through the multithreaded connection handling campus is very fast and scales very well on SMP systems.

campus supports extensions to the FTP protocol that allows up- and download of the extended attributes used in the Be file system.

campus now includes an extension to the FTP protocol which was jointly developed by Stegemann & Co., Inc. and Zeid Derhally, author of NetPenguin (http://www.desertnights.com). With this extension it is now possible to preserve the extended attributes of the BeOS Filesystem, which are normally lost in a FTP-Transfer.

It is now possible to define a Download-/Uploadratio for a user so the the user has to upload files before he can download anything.
