The new mp3 decoder plugin I created for v3.7 did not skip over id3 v2 tags correctly which made it hang for long times on certain songs! I have now made the initial scanning much faster, corrected the bug and finally also corrected resync bug...
Otherwise it's the same as v3.7:
-
At last I have rewritten the mp3 decoder to also
support variable bitrate. Earlier CL-Amp has been playing it as it should,
BUT the estimated length has been totally wrong! Now everything shall work...
(This new plugin is based on a newer version of the mpg123 lib than before)
-
Lots of bugs in the playlist window has been corrected
-
Songs are inserted where they are dropped in the
playlist now. Not always last as it was before!
-
A drag-to-other-workspaces-bug has been fixed
-
A irritating bug in the snap to screen edge and fellow
windows area has been corrected
-
A new option has been added: "Always on top (on all
workspaces)"
-
A new option has been added: "Minimize all windows
with the main window's minimize button"
-
A new option has been added: "Remember speed settings
at startup"
-
A new option has been added: "Automatically play
next song"
-
(If this one is deselected, CL-Amp will stop after
each song, making it up to you to select the next song to play)
-
The Vorbis
Ogg input plugin by David Burnett
is now included in the archive! It has been around a long time, but since
this is my first release since ages it's included now
-
A VQF player input plugin
has been developed by Takashi
Toyoshima, and is included in the archive. LOTS of people have asked
for such a plugin!!
-
A SID player input plugin
has been developed by Christian
Bauer, and is included in the archive. Read about it at the Plugin
page! Source code is available....
-
The music format Shorten (.shn) can now be played. It's more like a zipped
file than a normal audio file, but my new plugin handles it like a normal
audio file anyway! However, it's not heavily tested so comments are welcome...
Jumping around in a shorten file has to be done by scanning the file so
be prepared for a longer delay than normal when skipping to a new position!
-
I also want to mention: I have updated the
plugin page where I have
tried to include all available plugins! My most sincere apologizes for
the long delay... And don't forget to check
BeBits for CL-Amp stuff from time to time!!
-
And btw, one more thing: Don't forget to write an e-mail to the plugin
authors and thank them for their efforts!! That price I think is a bargain!
This time I have made an update available. The update is only updating the Mpg123 plugin, but since that's the only change, it should do! The about text in CL-Amp will still say v3.7... If that's troubling you, then download the complete archive!

It has been a very long time since my last update
and the reason is that my job situation went so bad, that I felt very VERY
BAD... The first half year of year 2000 I was very unhappy, depressed,
apathetic and got sick frequently! :-( However, after the summer I got
a new job and I'm now working as a Software Engineer at Volvo IT in Gothenburg!
Since I'm now work with my hobby, I'm very happy and life starts to feel
quite good again!! Under this period I have tried to answer as much letters
I could, but failed to answer all of them (apathetic persons are not very
effective ;). But even if you don't have received any answer, feel certain
that I read them all!! A warm thanks for all nice letters and feature requests
I have received!!

* A serious bug which caused cross fade to crash (very seldom, but anyway) has been corrected!
* Support for Effect/DSP plugins and General Purpose plugins
* Ir remote control support via my new program: BeInControl
* 5 small effect plugins added to show how it works... (source code in the DevKit)
(Echo, Extra Stereo, Mono, Left Right Swap and Voice Remover)
* Scripting support has been added, allowing frontends to browse the playlist
* Yet 2 more small skin glitches have been corrected
* Selecting files in the playlist is slightly improved again
* Pausing a song made nearly a second of audio disappear. Fixed now...
* Better plugin shutdown sequence so open plugin windows doesn't crash CL-Amp when CL-Amp is being closed!
* Saving all settings files in its own folder in the settings folder! End of that mess! :-)
* The plugin hook functions now get a pointer to a struct instead of one lonely int value. CL-Amp's settings path can be found in that struct!
* Old already compiled plugins will anyhow work. The solution is back compatible!
* Scot Hacker, Marco Nelissen and I have agreed to change the play list mime type to text/x-playlist instead of the old text/x-cl-amp-playlist and text/x-soundplay-playlist. It makes RipEnc, CL-Amp and SoundPlay work better together! Therefor there is also some changes made regarding the mime handling and I hope that will not cause any problems!
* A new option is added under sub menu Application: Convert bad mime types to correct ones.
* New for BeOS R5 users: Mouse wheel will in main window control the volume and in the playlist scroll the text!
* Registering file type icons correctly under BeOS 5 now... (When you select: Make CL-Amp your preferred application)
* Redrawing the playlist is perhaps somewhat faster now? (I had forgot to change DrawBitmap to DrawBitmapAsync in there)
* The function GetSongInfo() should be useable in Visual plugins now
* The Amp plugin is removed to decrease the size of the archive. It has to be downloaded separetly from the the utility page if anyone whish to use it!

I'm ashamed for this flood of updates, but I have not been able to do so much about it! I have, thanks to URL hints from Jonathan Belson, been able to create my own Bezier code for drawing that nice graph in the Equalizer... The actual page (Bezier curves) was created by Paul Bourke. Thanks Paul for a very informative page!
Hopefully this tiresome affair is over now! Sorry again for all updates!!
* The graph is back again thanks to info from Jonathan Belson and Paul Bourke.
* Both the old code and WinAmp itself makes one mistake. How to see it?: Everything should be zeroed and then adjust the 1k slider (as an example) to the top level. Of some strange reason some part of the curve now goes BELOW zero and that can't be right! Increasing one band should not cause others to be lowered like that!? The new code make no such mistake... ;-)
* The peak of some bands were some pixels missaligned in side before

I run into trouble with the source code I used to calculate the nice looking curve in the Equalizer. I had to remove it, but it will soon be back again...
I always try to do my outmost to credit the persons who help me in any way... In this case I forgot myself totally!! :-(
Changes in v3.52:
* The nice little curve is not drawn anymore in the Equalizer
* A bug which made it impossible to turn of cross fading is corrected

* Equalizer window is added!! Note however: it will only work with the Mpg123 plugin!, so move that one to the top and/or deactivate the Amp plugin!
* The windows should snap better to the screen and to each other now (it was not snaping to the bottom of the screen before and more such small things...)
* A new option added: Send shaded window to behind when right clicking the title bar (it's ON default but it can be nice to turn it off...)
* The menu is poping up whatever window is right clicked in (main, eq or playlist).
* A Reset button is added to the Fade preferences.
* The delete and insert key is now working in the Playlist window...
* The Tracker Add-ons has been renamed, so they shall appear next to each other in the menu

* CL-Amp now handles incomplete skins... When something is missed it will be replaced with parts from the WinAmp skin in the same way WinAmp does.
* Zipped skins are now supported. Just put a zipped skin archive in your Skins folder and CL-Amp should be able to use that skin!
* WinAmp's own skin installation files (ext: .wsz and mime type: interface/x-winamp-skin) is now supported. Unlike WinAmp its okay for CL-Amp if they are put directly into the Skins folder... In there they will work as a normal skin. If they are somewhere else and dropped on CL-Amp they will be installed in the Skins folder and automatically become the currently used skin.
If CL-Amp is made prefered app and the mime type is correct on the .wsz file, it should be possible to double click the .wsz file where after CL-Amp should then be launched (if not already running), the skin copied to the Skins folder and then selected as the current skin!
Even better is perhaps clicking on a .wsz link in N+ which should start up CL-Amp with that new skin (and install the skin in your Skin folder)...
* The terrible main menu has been cleaned up now! It should been done ages ago but I have been to lazy... I hope this new menu makes better sense!
* Thanks to Jens Johansson several skin bugs have been corrected in the playlist.
* A new option has been added: Allow launching multiple CL-Amps
* Another new option is: Always just add files to the playlist

Long time no see! I took a rest from coding and after a while ended up playing waaaay too much Unreal! I have just begun coding again and it felt like the Visual plugin support was something that had to be done! Unfortunatly, I will leave home in a couple of days and will not return until Christmas (I'm going to Australia :), which mean that I can't continue my coding before Christmas... But then I shall get going again! :-)
The source code for the visual simple vu-meter is included in the DevKit! Please, go ahead and make vis plugins! Much people will be happy for your efforts...
Btw: Thanks for all kind letters I receive!! I try to reply to everyone, but once in a while the reply address is wrong and I can't reply then! Be sure to check your e-mail preferences...
* Visual plugin support (I have no dev docs ready, but perhaps I can do that in Australia (I will have my Laptop with me = Windows, uhh))
* A simple VU-Meter plugin is included to serve as an example.
* Trent Trautman has also made a simple but anyway nice VU-Meter plugin.
* 2 Tracker AddOns are included which simply can be installed. READ the document in the CL-Amp folder!! They will make it possible to left click on a file or folder and select "Add-Ons -> Play this with CL-Amp" or "Add-Ons -> Add this to CL-Amp's playlist"
* Trent Trautman sent me this! Thanks for this and much more, Trent!
* A nasty bug which created new threads every time the Add new file option was used...
* A resizing problem with the Plugin window is fixed
* Have you terminal guys tested Mikael Jansson's 2 fine front-ends? (Get them here: clr and CLStat)
* Hint: Use Spicy keys to assign clr commands to certain keys. E.g. "ALT-n" could be assigned to "clr next fade" which make CL-Amp fading to the next song... Even volume can be controlled this cool way!
(The PPC version does not contain the alternativ Amp plugin nor the Tracker Add-ons but it will hopefully change in the future)

I received some reports about a new bug in v3.0, which made CL-Amp to not refresh the main window when switching from a Workspace where CL-Amp was not visible! Sadly, I received a report about this from a beta tester before I released v3.0, but I forgot to fix it! :-( This is just a little bug fix version and if you don't have any problem with v3.0 you could ignore this one!
Fixed in v3.01:
* Fixed the main window refresh bug when switching Workspaces
* Fixed a bug which made Mpg123 not starting from position 0\% when such a repositioning was requested
* Left and right arrow buttons in play list are now fast forwards and backwards as in the main window
I had also forgot to put the newest docs in the DevKit archive (the Headers was okay, but not the doc)... It's added now!! (Get it at CL-Amp's homepage)
Sorry for the inconvenience!
-- Best regards Claes --

My plan was to take care of the small things, but then I received so many requests for a wave output plugin so I have worked hard to make this possible. I have also added stuff to the FrontEnd support and improved the Input Plugins a little. One side step is that CL-Amp 3.0 is not compatible with CL-Amp v2.x Input Plugins!!
There was one cool Input Plugin on it's way and it NEEDED some new things... I thought it could be worth adding this stuff now when we still have a limited amount of input plugins available!
I have of course recompiled all old ones already and they are included in the archive!
(To convert an old plugin (if you have written one), just use the new Headers and recompile your project!) -- Best regards Claes --
* Wave output plugin! It's quite flexible and recording the fading is possible: I think it's very cool to burn a CD with 0 time between the tracks and having the cross fading on that CD! Read more about it in the Plugin section at CL-Amp homepage!
* CL-Amp remembers the playlist when it's started. (The time and other info is also remembered and don't has to be reread again!! Plus in shuffle mode it also remembers which songs has been played and in which order! :-) Perfect for a large playlist and Shuffle and Repeat mode activated!
* The Plugin and Skin window is not Modal any more! (you can work with CL-Amp while they are open). Fade window will follow soon...
* The "bug" with the Skin selector and Focus Follows Mouse should be gone now
* A minor error in the skin handling has been corrected. I streched the titlebar 1 pixel... oops... (Thanks Jens Johansson)
* Input plugins can be deactivated. Could be good for some testing...
* When CL-Amp is minimized or on another workspace the analyzer is stopped which will save some CPU time... (Thanks Wade Majors)
* John Robinson has exterminated a memory leak bug in his fine MikMod Input Plugin!
* New DevKit available at CL-Amp homepage. Output plugin and FrontEnd headers added. Input Plugin headers improved a little.

* CL-Amp can read ShoutCast playlists now (they are called PLS playlists in WinAmp)
* The memset crash that occoured sometimes in the Mpg123 plugin is found (Thanks to Thomas Neumann). I have written a letter to Michael Hipp (creator of Mpg123) about it so hopefully it will be fixed in the new version of Mpg123! I have made a work around that hopefully will make not crash at least!
* A new plugin is added. It's a sinus wave tone generator... It's used by adding URL's like tone://440 to get a 440Hz tone or like guitar://2 to get the tone for the second string on a guitar. (One of my beta testers is now using CL-Amp to tune his guitar. :-)
* CTRL-COMMAND-L is now causing the AddURL requester to pop up!
* That requester is, by the way, now also remembering the last URL that has been written!
* MiniDisc users has asked for an option to get a 3 seconds delay in between songs. It can be found in the menu now....
* Visualization on, is now in the menu also. It's easier to see if it's on or off now... :-)

* CL-Amp can read relative playlists now and can also read playlists from MS Windows, like WinAmp's m3u files (but they have to be relative, since C:, D: and so on... doesn't mean anything in BeOS ;-)
* Previous song button works in Shuffle mode now!
* Previous song can also be cross faded to now if you hold down the Shift key while you click on the Previous button! (Shift-Z on the keyboard)
* You can also initiate fading if you hold down the Shift key when you turn off CL-Amp and when you drag a file (or folder) to the main window!
* The clutter bar (the menu thing to the left of the time display) is working now.
* The position bar in shade mode is working now!! Even here its possible to use the shift key to fine adjust the position!
* The about 'button' in the main window does work now.
* CL-Amp crashed when the id3 tag was changed on the currently playing song. This is fixed now.
* CL-Amp crashed some times when cross fading or when you jumped around in songs. It seems okay now.
* Be changed a priority which made CL-Amp much more sensitive under R4.5! This is fixed now...
* Shoutcast support for playing ordinary mp3 files on normal sites is better now.
* The title of a Shoutcast server is shown in the playlist when you successully played from the server once! It's much easier to find the favorite server in a list now!
* The font and background color in the playlist is taken from the skin now. However, the old font bitmaps is not used, yet...
* The plugin window now has a up and a down button. Plugins can be rearranged to get CL-Amp to use a specific plugin before another one.
* Playing from NFS mounted partitions shall work now!
* Thomas Neumann has updated his .mod/.mtm plugin.
* Id3 tags couldn't be changed in files with a colon somewhere in the path. This is fixed now.
