June 20, 2000:
BeBits is now one year old! (Crazy, isn't it?) It seems like we just launched the site yesterday; at the same time, though, it feels as though we've been running it forever. In the past year, BeBits has gone through three major site revisions, several server changes, and two BeOS upgrades. The number of apps on BeBits has rocketed to well over 1,000, which have been downloaded almost two million times. And finally, after over 6 months of planning, progress, and paperwork, we finally got our spiffy new e-commerce services launched. (The BeBits Store is expanding rapidly - go check it out! Buy stuff! :-)
We owe a big "thank you" to every member of the BeOS community. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears have gone into this site, but all of you have made it worth the effort. Not everyone who slaves away on a site gets this kind of acceptance! We've worked hard, but much of the credit for our success (and the success of BeOS!) goes to the BeOS community - still great after all this time. And remember, we're always interested in your ideas on how we can improve things around here.
From the very beginning, our goal for BeBits has been to provide a decent, easy-to-use BeOS resource, and to be the best source for BeOS software. Many things have changed over the past year, but that hasn't. With your support, we're looking forward to another great year!
