November 4, 2000:
Earlier this morning (November 4), we took the site down for about 10 minutes to upgrade some components of our e-commerce system. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused to anyone. Specifically, we've divided our store into categories, and done a significant amount of behind-the-scenes work to eliminate glitches and allow us more flexibility for future products.
Everything is back up and running now, and it all appears to be working just fine. However, there is a possibility that you may run into a glitch here and there, especially if you're using our e-commerce services. If this happens, please let us know and we'll get it taken care of as fast as we can. Thanks for your patience!
A word about advertisements: we've been using both DoubleClick and Engage Media (formerly Flycast) to serve advertisements, but in response to relatively poor service and several complaints, we're going to stop using DoubleClick. (This has the added benefit of letting us get rid of pop-up ads, as well as the second ad that used to be displayed on the bottom of the page!) You may notice a DoubleClick advertisement from time to time, until we are finished phasing out their services.
