Greetings, BeOS users of the world! It's been a while since we've posted an update, so here goes...
We've still been having some problems with delivery of Inside BeOS; we've been working with Berndt Thorsten Korz, the InsideBeOS guy, to sort this out but there are probably still some "issues" that need to be dealt with. (Pun intended. :-) So, if you've ordered InsideBeOS and waited a couple of weeks, and you still haven't received it, let us know and we'll go from there.
A few people have mentioned that BeBits seems to be getting slower (this is something we've noticed as well). In response to this, and in an attempt to cut down on our costs a bit, we'll probably be moving the BeBits server in the near future. Right now we don't know exactly when that will be; we're still working out the details and the logistics of the move. We'll do our best to minimize any downtime, but chances are that BeBits might be offline for a day or two. (This is a sad thing for us; as of now, our server has been running for about 9 months without a reboot!) An update will follow once we've finalized things a bit.
BeBits has sold banner ad space for quite some time now, but very few have ever taken advantage of it. So, we've decided to slash our rates way, way down so that just about anybody - developers, BUG's, web sites, Auntie Em, and so on - will be able to advertise on the site with a minimum of expense. We'll try to post some details on this in a couple of days, but for now, e-mail us if you're interested.
Due to a few problems we had, we've fallen behind in responding to e-mail; if you've e-mailed us and haven't received a response, please be patient. Also, please keep clicking the advertisements (even if it's just the BeBits store ad)... a high click-through rate is a Good Thing. That's about all for now - thanks for using BeBits!
