The Great BeBits Server Move |

March 12, 2001:
The time has finally arrived... we will be moving the BeBits server within a few days! As mentioned earlier, we've been planning the move for a while now, both to resolve some of the BeBits speed issues and to decrease our costs.
Marvin, the BeBits server, will be taken offline at some point between Monday afternoon and Tuesday afternoon, depending on when our current ISP gets around to it. The server will be shipped to our new ISP and, assuming everything goes well, will be up and running again later this week. Unfortunately, this means that BeBits won't be online for a day or two, but there's nothing we can do about that - sorry! We'll do everything we can to keep the downtime as short as possible. There may be other technical issues as well, such as the time it will take for DNS changes to take effect throughout the world. Also, Marvin is due for a few tuneups (including an OS upgrade among other things), so there will probably be a few more hours of scheduled downtime in the near future. Watch this space for more information.
