Hello all,
It's been quite a while since we've had an update, but we'd like to take this opportunity to announce some new site changes. We've been doing some behind the scenes work on BeBits, but tonight we rolled out the first of several changes that should make BeBits a better site for just about everybody.
The first (and most major) change is the addition of a Talkback system, which is a general way for users to discuss applications, ask questions, offer hints, etc. We took the old User Reviews section and merged it with the more general commenting that used to be on BeNews, and Talkback was the result. You can see a list of recent comments on the application pages and on the main BeBits page. It's still a fairly simple system, but if it catches on we'll be adding more cool features. So, if you've got something to say on BeBits, go say it! All it takes a free BeBits user account.
There are several other smaller changes peppered throughout the site as well. Search results are now displayed with a date indicating the last time that result was updated. OSNews, a site which often runs BeOS headlines, has been added to the Headlines rotation, so you will sometimes see their headlines on the main BeBits page. (We're willing to add other news sites with a significant amount of BeOS news; all that's required is that the site have an RDF feed. Let us know if you have suggestions.)
Again, there should be other BeBits site changes coming in the near future! In particular, we're aware of the large number of broken links on the system and we're working on a solution. So stay tuned for the cool stuff yet to come!
