BeBits has been around for a couple of years now, and for the most part the Internet and the BeOS community have been good to us. We weathered the dot-com crash without a problem, and when advertising on the Internet suddenly started paying very little, we managed to survive that one too. However, our ad revenues have fallen dangerously low in the past few months, and we've had some unexpected (but large) expenses.
The point of all this? We've avoided this as long as possible, but in order to keep the site running, we would VERY much appreciate any donations for the cause! If you could spare a couple of dollars (or whatever your local currency) we would greatly appreciate it! We're only able to accept PayPal at the moment, but that may change. Head on over to the Donation page, click the rather large and stunningly attractive Donate button at the bottom of the page, and you'll be on your way. Thanks very much!
In other BeBits news... we've been working on some of the issues BeBits is currently facing, including the large number of broken links. The results of that should be available relatively soon (although we're not promising anything at this point). We're also planning on doing some rather major system maintenance on the server in a few weeks, which will help make things more maintainable but could make the site quirky for a bit. We'll announce more about this when it happens but if you see anything weird, let us know and we'll fix it.
