Well, the upgrade was not as smooth as we'd hoped it would be, but we're back and running now. If you notice anything that seems to not be working as it once was, let us know.
In short, we're no longer running the horribly out-of-date FreeBSD 3.3. Instead, we are now using Debian Linux with kernel 2.4.18-smp. Along with the OS change, every important service from Apache to MySQL to PHP has been upgraded to more modern versions. From the looks of things so far, it appears we may have even picked up some additional performance--most likely due to enhancements in MySQL and PHP. This should make BeBits slightly faster for everyone, which means all the pain was worth it. :-)
