BeBits moderator privileges have been suspended until we can find a solution to a problem that has cropped up. While most of our moderators have been doing a very good job at clearing out the old entries, false entries, and fixing broken links, it seems that a few have also been hiding all apps published for Zeta, apps only for net_server, apps only for BONE, duplicate ports, or for other arbitrary reasons. It seems that a bit of an agenda has surfaced and the community has become understandably upset about this abuse of power over the past few days.
We certainly appreciate the time and efforts of those moderators who have been fair and reasonable. It is unfortunate that this happened, but we are working on it and trying to decide how to proceed. We still like the idea of moderators, but clearly our system cannot be based on such a high level of trust and we will instead need to build in some kind of accountability and verification as well.
We want to make it perfectly clear that BeBits does not have anything against Zeta/YellowTab or any other branch of the BeOS world. If it's BeOS-related, it is welcome here. The recent disappearance of certain apps was not planned by us or intended and we hope that most of the entries that were disabled will be re-enabled soon.
