The source code is now hosted by OsDrawer.net
http://dev.osdrawer.net/projects/rename/

I can't make any promise to develop it further.
Time will tell.

I dont know but rename is my favorite app to rename many data at once. Only the files I have to rename manualy.
This app saved me many time if you transfer some data from windows by network. This App is very nice. Dont know if it will work with Zeta since I cannot download it...

Don't get it.

ReName! may be THE renamer for Zeta but certainly not for BeOS in general. Sad thing PecoRename doesn't work with Zeta so I'm stuck with ReName!. Tried the Change Basename function to rename audio files. The docs are contradictory.

On the one hand:

"If multiple files were selected, when you hit the ReName! button, the entry names will be changed to whatever you had in the basename field plus a
number. If the entry had an extension previous to this, it will have the same extension after this."

On the other:

"HINT: If you leave the basename empty in this mode, your files will have names like 001.ext,002.ext,etc."

Entering nothing does what the "Hint" says but not what the first paragraph implies. So how do I get numbers into my filenames as a prefix? I'd guess "*" should do the trick but it leaves the filenames completely untouched.

The time it requires to understand this app prolly is spent better on renaming manually.

Frustrating. Someone willing to fix PecoRename for Zeta? Source is available, acc. to the bebits entry:

Its an application that has a tracker add on to launch it.
So you get a full preview interface, and before/after views of your filenames.

Since this tool can operate on quite a few files at once, a preview/approval screen showing the user exactly what it thinks it is being asked to do would allow them to bail out if they made a mistake.
