I had tried many other websites and drivers, but with no luck. So, I took out the sound card. Went to this website, downloaded this driver, saved it to windows/system/drivers and opened it with winzip. then turned off the computer, put in the sound card, turned the computer back on and it installed perfectly. My sound has been restored. Thank you so much.

This driver, and this whole website, is for BeOS, not Windows. I suggest you try somewhere like Techspot (http://www.techspot.com/vb) to ask about problems with Windows.

I'm totally new at this, so any help will be appreciated. I had pc problems, and lost the sound. Current profile says I have ENSONIQ AudioPCI ES1371, and Wave Device for Voice Modem. Have Creative speakers, Model# SBS10, which tested good. Windows Media says I have no sound device, and I have no sound on RealPlayer. Do I just need to download a driver, and if so, will ES1370 work? Or is there an ES1371?
Also need to know what is R4, R4.5, R5, and how do I determine which I have or need?
Sorry this is so long, but I'm getting desperate, and I'm an old lady, so please humor me. :-)

Evil in details. In little differencies between cards with same chipset.
Try to search here for two entries with CT5880 in name.
Those are patched drivers which solve similar problem

i have NOT downloaded this driver, but i thought this would be the best place to get my question answered. I just installed beos and it looks like my ensoniq card has been recognised, but i have no sound. the "Audio in" and "Audio Out" in the media server setup show no devices present. i have upgraded to 5.0.3 but still problem persists. i am fairly certain that there is no irq conflict because i have tried it in three different pci ports, and its irq is now 5, no other device has an irq of 5 (or at least so the device manager says). Please help me, im a linux user trying to diversify my os background. any help is apreciated

I'd like to help you but in traditional fashion pre built computers are POS & the manufactuerers hide thier spec. I cannot find anything on gateway 2000 & since you bought it you should know. If you dont know what your buying you shouldnt buy it THE END! The point is you need to contact them & find out EXACTLY what audio card or more likely piece of crap on board chip it has. If you have a 1370 or 1371 BeOS will run it right off the bat. Since it will not I suspect in fashion with most things you have some generic ac97 chip. If you can get me the spec of the machine I can help you more. If you want you can contact me in BeShare most days & I can help you then.

If this is an ancient driver, what would I need to be compatable to the driver I need? I need help, I am new to this and really don't know... I was told that the driver for my Gateway 2000 is the Ensoniq Audio PCI ES1370. Can anyone please give me the correct driver?

...Maybe not. The item description could not be more clear about the fact that this driver is for R4 only. I have no idea if anyone is using R4 anymore, but it is theoretically possible that R5 breaks either software or hardware compatibility with something that someone is using. Translation: maybe somebody ~does~ actually need this.
Anyway, even if the binary isn't useful, the included source code might be.

to avoid confusing.
This is ancient driver for ancient BeOS.
For R4. Who cares about it?
R4.5-5.1 support it natively.
But people instead investigating IRQ problems if sound don't work on their machines start download this legacy one, making situation even worse.
Second cathegory of downloaders is absolutely senseless -
WinXP owners. Only sense - they increase bebits hitting rate and traffic.

This card is supported as of R5 so why do you need it?
If you have no audio then you dont have this chipset these work perfect for abotu 7 hours heh then the media server bug pops out

I just DL'd from the primary location and it worked fine. I'm using N+ on PPC. You might need to clean some crud out of your browser cache, etc.
