It starts well but when you try to create a new project it crashes, in the other versions of Zeta (until 1.1) it worked but not with 1.2.

Other than the fact that I paid the $35 for software that was never truly stable and has a lot of bugs, there's the fact that the software was never even close to being in a finished state: while there are key commands documented for switching between windows, they're majorly inconsistent in functionality. But besides that, this morning in the wee hours I fired up the last version of BeXL, and found I was unable to edit hooks (select them for editing) and yet, when I booted into another partition and used an older version of BeXL (more crash-prone) when it wouldn't crash, it would allow me to select/check and uncheck the hooks.
While there are some interesting features of BeXL, like every other GUI editor that's been released on bebits or the other sites, it's poorly implemented in terms of quality.
I know: put up or shut up. Consider this a stealth warning that I am going to put up with my own IDE/GUI editor (name not released until it's usable and available for sale) that will be (GASP!) closed source and NOT free, though all software created by it will have no restrictions on sale or forcing onerous licensing on the developer.
No, it won't be a copy of CodeLiege. I haven't seen what the latest version of that is actually like, but I wish to use a more efficient user interface paradigm than copying VisualStudio. Even though that paradigm is the most commonly used one (at least by number of people stuck using it) I believe I have something a lot more efficient...
Simon hasn't updated/fixed BeXL in the 3 years since releasing this beta (yes, definitely "truth in advertising") which I strongly feel as one of the paying customers (I even sent him useful bug reports) he owes to the community, at least those that paid. I'm not at all against paying for useful software that works as designed and does what I want (BeXL approaches it, but misses - but not as badly as most GUI editors for BeOS do) and as someone that has made my living writing software, I'd be a hypocrite to not respect the right to earn money for work done.

"I saw on BeBits some people linking to my journal.
What is the status of BeXL right now? Well I still have my BeOS hard drive connected on my main unit but I haven't looked at the code for months. My video card is a GeForce4 Ti 4400 and of course coding in VESA mode is quite a pain. I will release new BeXL versions one day and when I will have cleaned up the source, release it under GPL. When? I really don't know. I still have some few things to fix up in my life (leaving my parent's basement is one of them) and I don't have much time and still not that much of free time.
I know OpenBeOS is going great and when the time will be right BeXL will be released once again and free for all.
Damn I know I keep you waiting for beta 4 for too much time. ;-)"

Someone should contact him and show some concern about BeXL future...
Maybe he don't know about OSBOS projects, yet.

I was disappointed in the documentation. I know nothing about C++ or programming, and I was under the impression that the documentation would take me to a point where I could write something that would work, and I was left in complete confusion as some of the basic concepts are assumed to be understood.
