The homepage is hosted by SourceForge, but where's the source?

FWIW, Alt-I would be a more regular shortcut for what Alt-D does.

Anyway, very nice app!

very useful for finding odd chars

This is very useful for finding that odd characters one doesn't find with your keyboard.

I find it very useful for configuring the right fonts in Bezilla and other applications.

Now, here are a few suggestions to make Fontboy even better:
* Support for Copy&Paste of characters (Drag&Drop is useful but it is not always the most convenient way)
* Search option for specific characters (by name and by number/address)
* Display of character names
* Display only specific font types (e.g. Monospace, Sans Serif)
* Display by-script (language)

Thanks again!

Recently I was trying to redo my resume. It was done many years ago on that other OS. I was able to hunt it down but I didn't like the fonts I was using. Your app was very useful to recreate the look I had set up before. Thank you very much and keep up the great work!

ATM this is not possible without a lot of work in the background because the BFont API don't give me access to the filename. This could be done using libfreetype.so and is on my todo list for a very long time now;)

Thanks,
Oliver

I'm sorry to have to tell you that there was an old file version on the webserver (v0.9.6d in the about window).

Please restart your download once again if you are affected.

Thanks & regards
Oliver

can you add the filename of the font in the details window? Since we cannot double-click on the font files and see their output, it would be very helpful to see their filenames of truetype fonts.

thanks.

OK, i'm stupid - i didn't try to grab and "drag" "<->" button, only click it. After i "discovered" it few seconds ago, all is ok (but maybe resizing window "old-school" way should also resize character view if it can't make right size any smaller? :)

Hi Shard,

> Now if we could chose font and drag&drop it to text editor to set it there as active... :))

Fontboy supports Drag & Drop in various ways. The dragged message (from the list window) contains the fontname as text/plain and a HTML fonttag as text/html. also includes is a ffont object (see http://www.angryredplanet.com/beos/FFont/) but the support in other applications is very low.

And to your window resize problem...

It's a bit hard to get your problem out of the message. Resizing of the detail window should always be possible. You can use the <--> control to change the available space for each side. Fontboy checks dynamicly the window and splitpane sizes and prevents sizes under about 200 pixels.

your described problem may be related to a bug that occured to me now and then when resizing the window to fullscreen. the bug circumvents the resizing of the splitpane via <--> control. Try closing the window and reopening and it should work again. Let me know if you still have the same problem!

Now if we could chose font and drag&drop it to text editor to set it there as active... :))

But for now, it's really good. I only found one "bug": i can't resize detailt window to smaller size. i mean, when i first started Fontboy and launched details, they were "squized" in small window. I've hit "<->" button and window resized so letter was quite big (window took about 1/4 of the screen = 1024/768). I also could resize it with usual window's "resizing" widget and zoom button. But i can't make it back as small as it was when i launched it first time.
So.. can You add setting for "details" window to let user set how big should be font used there? and maybe (to make it even more userfriendly) make it controllable with mouse: left button down + move right/down = make font size bigger, left button down + move left/up = make it smaller (or if it's possible: up = height bigger, down = smaller, left/right = stretch it, up/down/right/left with shift key = resize height+stretch equally = make it bigger/smaller size :)

Sorry for long post.
THX for app :)

Cool app!

This is a nice tool because often you don't really know which font you want for a particular purpose just by browsing the names.

It looks like you're careful with your UI design, too.
Cool!
