There are some patches pending for the new vorbis libs and tools so that they will build cleanly on beos. However, these patches have not been applied to the CVS yet. (open-source molasses) I have been waiting to submit the libs and tools to bebits until this is resolved but I may simply run some sanity compiles on other platforms and assume that the changes will eventually be committed. As a matter of principle I generally prefer to wait until my changes become part of the official CVS. (Thou Shalt Not Fork)

This codec won't work with OGG encoded with the final version of OGG / Vorbis 1.0. (for example from CDex or from oggDropEx)
Since the OGG Vorbis was officially released in July 2002 and this package was released in 2000, it uses an outdated version of OGG (probably a beta one).
If the author can delivers a version using the latest OGG Vorbis 1.0 SDK recompiled for BeOS 5.0.3
Also this package is incompatible with OGG Vorbis Tools 1.0

Finally, a solid solution for those who want something better than MP3.
Coupled with AudioConverter, it supercedes VorbisTools, and also allows Vorbis to be played by something as inocculous as MediaPlayer.
This is the second step on from MP3 Support and the DivX CODEC. Next we need a replacement MP3 CODEC, an a Visualisation (Audio-Video converter) Media Node, and BeOS will be the complete Media OS.
