indentation

as i never stopped to use that app, i now have large amount of "item" listed. I mainly disable them with # instead of retyping them when needed.

problem is that it clutter fast. I now use different color and text size but if i could do indentation it would be even better.

For exemple, if you use " " or "TAB" before typing "day", the app just ignore it just as it would be a # comment.

huh

The settings are saved - as attributes of the schedule file.
If those settings get lost for you, you're probably using an editor which doesn't preserve the attributes when saving the file.

Would be great if this resize function would remember it's setting + when I save the Scheduler_settings I'd like to keep it's window size and not reset it.

Oh and I like to have it on my mobile phone ; ) Haha thanks Axel! Maybe it's not a bad idea imo.

source of crash found

i axel, dunno if you remember but long ago on beshare i talked about a random crash i get (the app crash and close).

It seemed really random but i found a patern. Because i have R5 and the soundblaster driver that corrupt over time on some card model i need to restart media server from time to time.

It happen that if i do that and then the scheduler do a "bip" it crash. Those don't need to be at the same time, it seem the app lost a hook and point to garbage. When restarted the app see stable again ... as long as no restart of media occur.

Oh, yes, sorry, that's a "bug" in the documentation; right now, you can only specify sounds using the attributes.
Just set the attribute "sch:soundFile" to the path to your sound file, and it will be used (or else, the BeBeep.wav sound).
I thought about putting that in as an option, but it didn't make it into the release.

Symbolic Links Problem

If the settings file is actually a symbolic link to the real settings file, then it doesn't notice changes to the file. I use a link to the real file on a different disk volume, which gets backed up (I don't back up the settings directory). Guess I just have to remember to back it up.

Sound Effects?

How do you specify a sound effect? The docs mention it as an option for the "t" command, and links to the settings page where there is no mention of sounds. Guess I can set up an event to just play a sound, but it would be nicer having it integrated.

Doesn't stay minimized.

I've tried it with "hide window after" enabled/disabled and either way it won't stay minimized. I use it to run stuff i don't want to do manually but I don't really care to see it pop up, ever. :P

Replicant

It would be cool if it had the option to run as a replicant.

I especially like scheduling NTP to update my PC clock daily. Networktime timeserver.ntp.net in a script file :)

whoa!

thanx, indeed very easy but not obvious, first time i see that setting idea, quite clever!

another nice addition i can see is to use the mouse wheel on mouse over to enable the number of days show without having to go into the pref panel. As i understant the positioning system this would dynamicaly change the size of the window relative to it's steady side.

The position stuff is actually very easy to use, but might not be that obvious. You set the window border and maximum size using the "Edit maximum size" menu (or similar) - as long as that option is activated, you can move the window around and change its (maximum) size (the window will be much bigger during that time).
The alignment only sets the alignment in the rectangle you define there - that's needed so that it can be placed exactly where you want it to have, no matter how many dates are shown, and how large they are.
The always-on-top option would certainly be doable.

position

the positioning is weird, all the choice seem to only change the position into the upper left quadrand of the screen.

Why not simply have the app remember is position at close?

Also a always on top option would fit that app nicely.

Oter than that, nice and simple

This is great, thanks!

Thanks for continuing work on this.
It's always running on my machine and helps me a lot.
Oh, and thanks for all your other work, too!
