nowadays most of the time it's a speaker, but it wasn't like this some years ago even.
And yes, the speaker itself can do whatever it is asked for, the problem is the wave generator that delivers signals, which hardly has any amplification, so for a simple square wave it's ok, but for more complex signals it isn't enough.

oh ya & in regaurd to the line in which takes said beep to the speaker... it has to tunnel some rate of sound thus enabiling any type of audio as long as it's skwooshed into it's limits & in this case 8k mmmmmmm such great sound quality... beep buzz or briteny spears its all the same to it as long as it 8k heh

If you have a speaker for your system beeps its still just that so it can do any form of audio. But being a 2" speaker you cant expect wicked quality or a 35htz bass response but the point is it's a speaker. It can make a beep or be wierd to your tv to listen to MTV if that turns your crank... it will sound like crap but... speaker do speaker stuff. Do not revel in the fact it was MEANT only to beep so if you can make it play music it's amazing cuz it wasnt meant for such complex wave forms - it was meant only to beep. It's a speaker no differant then the ones in your headphones... well it differs in quality... but all speaker do now dont they... heh

Considering how simple the PC speaker system is (it was designed only to make beeps), you should be really happy it can produce this :))
Note also the sound level really depends on the speaker itself, which usually is very small, or sometimes only a buzzer in some PCs, and the place it is located in the case.

This driver is yet yet defeatist I used this driver on a system with a FM (Forte Media) card. It works but unless you rig up an amp inline to the speaker heh your going to hear about nothing. Unless you have some sucky system with sub par cooling or a REALLY good cooler - good meaning Quiet too your cooling system wil drown this out. This would ony be good for a laptop realy as they are quiet but even them most laptops today dont have pc speakers... yes they have speakers but no where this driver is going to hunt for them. Thus useless... Party on Wayne! Party on Gar..

This driver causes a KDL in Dano on a Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop.
Thought y'all might like to know.
Of course, this thing may not have a 'PC Speaker' hooked up to it.
But it does actually make a single 'blip' before the happy KDL comes up ...
