Last time I spoke to joris he was making the demo of Red Alert work with FreeRA ;)

I would a appreciate all the help I can get in tracking down this bug :)

As I don't have any data to try FreeRA, I only can help you to track the crashing issue.
When it crash, click Debug button. In the Terminal window opened by this action, type "sc" command. It will output a stack crawl, which should help you/us to localize the crashing part.

You can also type "bdb" command to launch the graphical debugger on the crashed program, but it's useful only if you have a debug version of the program (it's easy to build it from the BeIDE project, though) and the source code somewhere.

Meanwhile, you could report the sc output here.

I have a problem with FreeRA (I know it’s not Haiku but I’m desperate :))

In FreeRA the game sometimes work and sometimes it crashes after the intro movie is played. You can run the game ~3 times in a row without crashes and after that you will have ~3 times in a row with crashes.

If some one could test to run FreeRA on BeOS would be nice :).
For those that don’t know about FreeRA.. it’s Red Alert 1

forgot the link :)

There are a BeIDE project in the Project folder.

We always have, development-wise.

>this way, it must take ages to develop large projects...

Exactly. BeOS never had many big projects anyway.

>Is there at least a good source of documentation regarding using the bdb?

Read this:
http://be.befaqs.com/developers/bmessage/issue19.html#ei

And read the documentation that comes with BDB. It can be found on your /boot/develop/tools/experimental/debugger/ after you install BDB.

Are there other alternatives?

Source debugging within an IDE is something that was even available for DOS developers many years ago (Borland TC comes to mind).

How can it be that BeOS users have to settle for less? this way, it must take ages to develop large projects...

Is there at least a good source of documentation regarding using the bdb?

Thanks again,

Prog.

It is not integratable.

How do I integrate this debugger with the BeIDE?

Is it possible at all, or must I use the command line?

Thanks,

Prog.
