... is pure ugliness!!!! Who did this automated translation??? All I hope is that I had the time to do mine's.

Great programs, needs more developers to add new features.

As far as user interface and stability goes BeAIM is by far the best Instant Messenger client I have used for any OS, and I highly recommend it.

However, as others have pointed out, it severly lacks some features that other AIM clients have, including some which are very important to a usefull chat client. The two that stand out to me are file-transfer and group chat (although I would also appreciate remote playlist support also).

I greatly appreciate the hard work that Greg has put into this project, however I also feel he is probably spread to thin to continue development of this app by himself if we are to get all of these needed features added. I think Greg should setup a sorceforge account and encourage other users to help extend this great client.

1.5 is Stable and Elegant although Important Features Still Missing

The improvements made from the 1.0 codebase to 1.5 make BeAIM faster and more reliable, and the user interface changes create a UI better then any instant messenger client I have seen. This program is a must for any BeOS user to keep in touch with friends and family.

However any user who has used AIM on Windows or Macintosh will notice some key features missing: most noticeably file transfer, group chat, remotely stored buddy lists, and buddy icons. BeAIM is an excellent start and I really hope that the important missing features will be added in the future to further improve upon BeAIM.

Much slicker, much more stable

I totally agree with the comment by mrphodes - not only is a very usable, clean, uncluttered, and effective AIM client, but the latest version alleviates the crash-every-30-minutes problem and no longer violates your saved Buddy List in ways we all don't want to talk about. If this program had buddy icon support, I could ask for no more.

Wish Windows AIM was like this

Simple, elegant, effective. Wish AOL could develop something more like this...
