The keyword in my previous post is "under Dano". Used the same driver under R5.0.3+BONE and it works well with the same hardware (incl. 120GB drive). Sorry for the confusing comment.

Caution: not compatible with partitions > 32GB

I fought for hours to make my machine format and recognize a 120GB drive with a single FAT32 partition. Drivesetup would partition and initialize, but I couldn't mount it. When I removed this driver, Dano mounted the drive immediately.

slow listing of directories with lots of files

Hi:

I noticed that yes, this mounts your file system much faster, but at a cost.

Compared to the R5 driver, it lists directories with lots of files much slower.

Also, I have a Fat32 drive with some 30 divx movies (all around 700mb) on it. It takes about 15sec to list the contents of the directory with this driver, and about 2 seconds with the R5 driver.

thnx

works under zeta nice too

i had the problem to mount fast fat32 partitions on zeta, and i dont can automatic unzip or open files from fat32. So i think about old times with my r5 and knows about the great and fast modified fat32 filesystem. I download it and install it on zeta, and it runs wonderfull. Fast access to fat32 filesystem and automatic recognition of all files on that system (zip, avi, wav, rar...).

Very Fast, but bug causes tracker to crash

After using this mod for a period of time, I linked it to a system crash that occurred when right clicking on the desktop, then selecting the desktop pop-out menu. Tracker would crash, and have to be restarted. This only occured when FAT drives were mounted on the desktop (I had two at the time). Still, quick loading.
