The Wine thing on BeOS is a bit difficult. There were, for example, problems with memory addressing that overlaps for wine and BeOS, and I think this was one of the reasons why this project stopped.
Please also note that BeOS is not a form of Unix or Linux. It is an operating system of its own. It has a similar structure to Unix because of it beeing more or less Posix complaient.
This does mean that you can't just port everything from Unix/Linux to BeOS easily. If that were the case, there would certainly be more software here on BeBits.
Porting large projects (like wine) takes a very long time and is a complicated thing. Mostly there are many dependencies (like libraries or other programs) needed to build a project that add up on time needed to port and complications.
Please consider using a Forum to discuss such things (like at beosjournal.org, iscomputeron.com or osnews.com) instead of the BeBits Talkback.

Hmm...how about compiling WineX for BeOS? Wouldn't it be great? Then I would say that my desktop is completed :D BineX - maybe that is what you could call it... :P Someone who's planning this about making WineX for BeOS?
