http://xkcd.com/327/ was one i came across coz i'm writing SSOEs and i found it amusing coz i'm auditing an Oracle SOE.
It wasn't meant to be insulting. If so, i apologise.

so i wouldn't have to do the extra work of looking it up is why you'd post it here.

i know how to run mysql queries, your post is insulting with the graphic.

90% of emails here are broken. user and dev accounts are two different things.

every id is in the url anyways, not like it's a big secret. i.e 3903:

this may help:

given that i transferred it to Kieran and there's been no updates for years, i'd like it transferred back to me so that i can attempt an update.

My new job now affords me the time to do after hours programming like i used to 10+ years ago.

Builds on BeOS. -A seems to work this time, as in it no longer makes an assertion error and kills the app, and it does change the results given out over a scan without -A

Anybody who wants it, mail me. Peter - want to uploade it here?

I'll kill my version

I've haxored 3.55 into working on BeOS, but I can't seem to upload it (Web2FTP.com doesn't seem to like me, can't use normal FTP). However, I can send a diff to someone who can patch it and compile.

You have multipul NIC's or it's seeking your loopback as a interface. You have to use the -e

nmap -sS -O -v -S xxx.xxx.xx.xx -e /dev/net/tulip/0 etc etc

determine interface

/boot/home: nmap -v -sS -O -p 1-80 58.0.0.17

Starting nmap V. 3.00 ( www.insecure.org/nmap/ )
WARNING: Could not determine what interface to route packets through to 58.0.0.17, changing ping scantype to ICMP ping only
Host (58.0.0.17) appears to be up ... good.
Could not figure out what device to send the packet out on! You might possibly want to try -S (but this is probably a bigger problem). If you are trying to sp00f the source of a SYN/FIN scan with -S <fakeip>, then you must use -e eth0 (or other devicename) to tell us what interface to use.

QUITTING!
/boot/home:

i use Zeta, is these the problem?
my network works perfect

hmmm..well

my new PC has no network connectivity under BeOS so i am firstly trying to write a driver for the RealTeck 8169 card....not as easy as i thought :-)

but no i have renewed my enthusiasm for BeOS now that the !GB hack is out.

nmap 3.5? it all depends how much has changed and how much time i have. The latter is little atm due to work commitments and the need to unwind at home...similar story for Snort too...but i really want them both updated.
Between, snort, nmap and winnuke etc etc i have some "tools" that have been downloaded a lot.

winnuke over 10000 times...what does that say about networking on BeOS? heheh

anyway, i've made time to seriously get my driver issue sorted. And worse case scenario is i have a spare NIC i can probably use as it is supported under BeOS.
take care
peter

I didnt want to make it too obvious...

Just try this, dont bother with a range just do a quick nmap -sS -O <IP_of_system_running_BeShare_>
that should sweep all ports & you will see this could turn into an exploit if not just a real pain in the butt. I think this needs to be addressed by the beshare client. if some one was to sweep your system deliberatly or by typo it would either really annoy or freak out some people heh. But the packets sent ovbious trigger BeShare into something even though they are dead & not actually a valid request... any try it & you will see what I mean. I just hope we dont get a bunch of idiots doing it for fun now.

what port range?

Wanna see something funny. Open BeShare & then nmap yourself or if you have 2 computers open BeShare on the second computer & nmap it from the first system... Maybe Jeremy should take notice of this...
