They never work. No matter what - I try to exactly follow the instructions on the readmes, tips everything and still the movies cannot play.
That's why to have to learn just to give up on trying to install BeOS codecs and just use vlc. So what, the timer does not work on vlc anymore and will never work again, but who cares vlc can playback all the videos and tv episodes you download so things are great!

Hi,
if you look at VLC changelog (head) you will notice that it looks like this codec will also be included in one of the next versions of VLC.
This would be very nice: playing MPEG4/DIVX(?) stuff with VLC..

no 404 anymore, BUT you should know that:
- it backups the old codecs in a subfolder of the one you install it from (backup/), which is, hmm, Bad(tm) if you forget it and erase the folder and then want to uninstall :^) you will loose mpeg1audio_fh.decoder
- it will break the Flash player and plugin (this is a _Flash_ bug, as it uses the default mp3 decoder as a shared library instead of through the media kit), just put mpeg1audio_fh.decoder or a link to it in /boot/home/config/lib/
- this version doesn't work with R5.1 (aka EXP/Dano), which you should know is not a supported BeOS version :P (even if a quite working version can be found on some russian site...)

Very good codec wrapper. I was able to view almost all of my sample DivX movies with it. Performance is better than with the old codec (improved a great deal).
Still crashes sometimes, but much better than the old ones.
Installation is quite easy, so give it a try!
