This is great, I just installed my router/printserver not
sure it would work but it does.
Here is what I did.
I copied the ipp and lpr files to the /boot/home/config/add ons/Print/transport folder.
Then I installed a new "LOCAL" printer ( PCL comp )
and selected "connected to " lpr.
Now I started printing something and the window for the settings appeared. I gave it the address of the router "195.168.1.1" and in the next field name "lp"
Tadaaa ! no more switching cables from one computer to the
other.

With the original LPR driver I can now print to my roommate's HP LaserJet 5, which is plugged into our router. Just put the IP address of the printer (no 'http' or anything) as the server, and put 'lp' as the queue name as AGMS said. Rockin'!

I had almost stopped using BeOS for the simple reason that I simply could NOT get it to print anything on any of three different printers.
After figuring out the none-too-clear instructions, I inadvertantly printed those instructions out to a totally unsupported (in Beos AND in Linux) Epson Aculaser C900 via LPD print queue on my Linux server using this addon.
I staggered about stunned for the rest of the day :)
VERY well done!

Use "LPT1_PASSTHRU" as queue name, should work.
Or "LPT2_PASSTHRU" if yur printer is connected to second parallel port (if any) of the server box.
Or "COM1_PASSTHRU" if your printer is connected to serial port...

Due to some buggy network headers files at compilation time, this version will not work at all.
Connection will failed every time with an error like:
Error socket failed -2147454955
Please use the original author version instead.
I've added a new download link, as he's web site have changed a little since...

If you have problems with this, where the print_daemon states "unable to load transport", try putting the 2 transport add-ons under /boot/beos/system/add-ons/Print/transport instead of under the /boot/home/config/add-ons/Print/transport directory. This worked for me, and now I can print to me network printer!

Wohooo! I got my printer plugged into the D-Link DI-713p router/firewall/wireless box to work with BeOS over the network! Use the LPR transport from http://www.bebits.com/app/2620 and the IP address of the box, with the secret printer name of "lp" though it might be "dlink" on other models. The DLink status page even shows the printer status when it has a print job. Having a Postscript printer makes it easier to set up.

My printer doesnt work with BONE ( network PS oki ) because the printer system wants to use appletalk for networked printers.
This addon works perfectly, I was worried it wouldnt.
