Finally, the code is ready for download.
Sorry for the delay, just been quite busy.
Do check the readme for info etc.
And you will need to install the dev tools from the BeOS cd, or download them, if your using PE.

It says the processor ID is 10f2
I'm guessing this one needs to be added to the list?

Diver,
I have emailed Daniele Protti, asking him if I can use his code.
If he shares it with me, I will try to implement it into the next version.
Guys, if you have some more CPU ID's please pass them onto me.
Cheers.

116a: AMD Athlon XP 3000+ with Barton core at 2167Mhz but BeOS tells me it runs at -2100Mhz so I can't use realtime audio/video because this needs > 200Mhz ;).
I don't know, but you maybe could call the AMD_ATHLON_XP_MODELx by it's core name (Palomino, Thoroughbred A+B, Barton).

Pulse++ would probably be the closest thing to what I'm thinking of, with the exception of the fact that it only offers one averaged processor bar for its priority sorted mode. With two processors, one of the cool things about Pulse is the way it flashes during multi-tasking. I realize this is really jus eye candy, but you can't deny it's cool.
What I'd really like, if someone would be kind enough to code such a thing, is basically an ordinary looking Pulse that would run in mini-mode and show both processors while ignoring distributed computing processes, by whatever means.
I think it would be possible to implement, if I can just convince some kind developer to undertake the project :)

Hi bluedog,
There are a couple of apps which do something close to what you want, pulse++ and priopulse. I don't really want to add any new features to pulse, as i said before if someone wants to keep pulse updated and add features to it then i can transfer the app over to them. Your idea is a good one and is probably possible to add.

Would it be possible to modify Pulse to be able to exclude either a specific process or all processes below a given priority level?
This would be handy for people running a distributed computing project. As it is now, Pulse is always at 100 percent, which is pretty much like not having any CPU monitor at all.
A number of Windows and Linux CPU monitors are able to do this, but who wants to run Windows or Linux.
If someone could add this feature to Pulse it would be greatly appreciated, by me at least.
Thanks

Yeah, it's no problem to add P4's to Pulse Athlon Xp, maybe a name change to just Pulse would make more sense to cover all cpu's. If there's anyone else who wants to keep Pulse up to date that would be ok with me. There's nothing worse than posting the same app again and again, :-)
As to why the BeOS about window is showing 1820 instead of 1800, sometimes my Athlon Xp 2000+ is shown running at 2010mhz, or 1990mhz, it could be because the timing crystal on motherboards vary on different bootups or the clock multiplier e.g 133.33 * (multiplier) takes the cpu speed over the rated speed, also BeOS rounds up the cpu speed to the nearest 10 i think. :-0

Well I tried to recompile with the updated code but in any case it didnt work... I don't code so I figured this would be a no go. The code you told me to add was unlike the enteries to the other CPU ID routines so I just sorta guessed at the whole thing. Any way if you could recompile & let me try it out I'd dig that since I know I'm not the only one with model 8 Athlons
- Thanks

I'll try to do this tomorrow if I'm half alive. somethign to note is the fact that my system is not patched for athlons & I booted fine. Seems to be a growing consensous that Be digs the faster & newer Athlons booting with no mention of the problems we say with the MP TB & early p4 models. I may grab the bin tool for cpu detection off the YT site & see what it says to see if I have a differant Ident then yours & can add both to the code before I compile.

Hi There,
I think you may have one of the new Athlon Xp cpu types, i have a new Athlon Xp cpu which it's id is 0x1168, and i have to modify my system for booting with SSE instructions, so i'm not sure what's going on with your system, could you try and add the following code to NormalPulseView.cpp and rebuild Pulse,
case 0x1167:
case 0x1168:
case B_CPU_AMD_ATHLON_XP:
strcpy(processor, "Athlon XP");
break;
If your cpu is identified after adding the above, i'll post a new version of Pulse Athlon XP.

Hmm last system I built for some one was an Athlon 1600 the other pulse saw the cpu fine... I just grabbed the old one to try it & it reports an unknown too. Now I must wonder if this has somethign to do with HOW my system is running as well. When I moved my system to here I was going to boot off one of my install cd's patched fro athlons (as my system wasnt since it has been running on a k6-2 for about 3 years) But I didnt get the cd in the drive fast enough... but UNpatched the damn thing booted!!! no patch! So I wonder, do I have some rouge cpu?
