I had the same problem with the bookmarks. Trying to use the manage bookmarks console would either halt Firefox or kill it. I've been having pretty fair luck with the last non-native build, though.

The bookmarks do not work. I cannot add bookmarks, replace the bookmarks file, nor can I open or import my saved bookmarks. Not very useful.

With SeaMonkey the menu bar and menu dropdowns are the same colour. As the menu dropdowns in Firefox now follow the menu colour set in BeOS I thought you were half way there. Will keep watching for semi-native to become native.;-)
Thanks for the tips, wish I had thought of that. ;-)

Not by default.
Standard themes use same color definitions for menubar as for other "panels", not color settings used by "pop-up" menus.
But it can be changed with special theme or maybe even with special user.js/user.css files.

Any chance of the menu bar being able to show in the selected Beos colour ?

Even if not, great work team, well done all.

Somebody please try: https://lists.berlios.de/pipermail/haiku-commits

Can somebody confirm, that when visiting this page, clicking any button in the appearing certificate dialog does nothing. One can only close the window in the window tab, and not continue.

the Zeta version is for i686 (Pentium II) or newer CPUs. AMD equivalent Athlon or newer. I also have a K6-2+ in one of my machines. Use the BONE version - it'll work fine even under Zeta.

If you are trying to use "Zeta version" of FF, try "BONE-version" instead

Hi,

I have a K6-2 550MHz AMD CPU running in an ASUS P5A mobo with Zeta 1.2, and when I try to execute the "firefox" script, I get an error. If I click the "Debug" button, I get the following text:

----------
loading symbols
invalid opcode occurred
nsVoidArray::SizeTo(int):
SizeTo__11nsVoidArrayi:
+01b0 ed594234: * c2440f cmovz %edx, %eax
firefox-bin:
----------

Invalid opcode sounds scary...is my machine too old now : ) I was using the Zeta version.

this is a new feature in the Firefox development trunk. There's debate going on in the Mozilla community as to how small they should get before scrolling begins. I'm with you: I'd prefer smaller.

it's the first time i notice this, was probably not in deer park. When you open many tab they eventually stop to fit the bar and you have to scroll trough them. Anyway to set them so they just get smaller and smaller?

The sidebar function is being removed from Firefox after version 2.0. It is being replaced by "Places", that odd little icon you see on your bookmarks toolbar. Places is a SQL database-driven replacement for Bookmarks and History that, when completed, will greatly enhance searchability and add new ways to organize bookmarks, history, rss feeds, etc.

Unfortunately, development on Places (a 3.0 feature) has stalled while the core mozilla devs (not the BeOS team) squash bugs in the 2.0 branch. Because we are so few (really, fyysik and tqh do nearly all the development these days) we're barely able to keep up with changes in the tree let alone improve the BeOS version - yet improvements continue to come in droves thanks to fyysik and tqh's tireless work. I'll second tqh's comments about constructive criticism. We should all hope neither of these two folks get hit by the proverbial bus or Firefox on BeOS could become very dead, very quickly.

If you're interested in Firefox 3.0 changes or Firefox development in general, you may follow the mozilla core team discussion at http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.dev.planning?lnk=lr

excuse me ! I wanted only to make one remark. I am just astonished that in menu “View” -> "Sidebar”, it does not have there a choice.
A small difference with previous version.
I don't know if you can activate sidebar with using keyboard shortcuts.

Does it not show, or it shows but doesn't work?
By using menu or using keyboard shortcuts?

We try to help everybody. We do this in our spare time, so you can't expect much.

If you are unsatisfied these are things you should do instead of whining, pick at least one:
* Report bug at bugzilla.mozilla.org
* Join the team and start to work on it yourself
* Keep quiet

I'm getting really tired with some people. If someone pays me a monthly salary you get to boss me around, otherwise don't!

Well, if some people instead bitching will join team with task to follow stable branch and put there all our OS-specific changes, there may be stable but at same time advanced FF for BeOS entry at bebits.

But with current workforce it is hardly possible.

First and foremost, the "Bleeding Edge" page is exactly what it says, the very forefront of Firefox development, warts and all. In that sense, no Bleeding Edge build is ever "ready". As is well indicated on the main page, Bleeding Edge builds should not be expected to be stable or free of bugs. Until recently, as it turns out, they have been, because Firefox itself was mostly in a cleaning phase. Now that we enter the next major batch of changes (moving from 1.5/2.0 to 3.0) many parts of the browser are changing and are only half done; bookmarks and history are undergoing one of the biggest changes seen since Firefox's inception. A similar transformation is happening to the search window and its underlying structure. And maybe, as you typed your Talkback comments, you noticed the addition of a functional spell checker.

The Bleeding Edge builds will continue to be as stable as the underlying core code; sometimes more stable, sometimes less, as the Firefox trunk goes. We, the Bezilla team, will continue to make sure Mozilla's code will continue to run on our beloved OS in all its flavours. Moreover, we'll continue to add platform-specific changes to enhance speed and usability. We appreciate accurate, helpful feedback and we'll continue to support this application, hopefully to the betterment of the the BeOS community.

Instead of bullshitting inrespectfully...

... one should honour the dozens of hours of work devoted by the whole bezilla team keeping this port up to date! From a nativity standpoint the app feals great and one can finally assign it to be the default link and html file handler. This is a great job guys! I've seen no issues with it at all and it's a relief being able to click a link in a mail allthough another instance/window of the app is already open. Great!

Unfortunately I have to confirm the non arriving invokation messages (or some such in XUL-slang) in the preferenes and bookmarking system. (E.g. Use blank page button)

I am sure you guys can fix this! Thanks!

When using the top File, Edit etc menus when holding down the mouse the blue highlighting flashes repeatedly and could induce seizures onto someone. Also, the google search part does not work. Using enter, or clicking the search magnifying glass. The alt+d bookmark keyboard shortcut also does not work (I cannot recall anytime in any of the firefox builds for beos that it has work). So the lesson is don't be so quick to praise when basic functionality isn't even evident. All this is only in using this build for less than 4 minutes, think about how much more I could write if I used it for a day or two?

I've been using the new bleeding edge 06/13 Firefox. Once in a while the page jumps on a mouse click, but I've had no crashes, even on the image link intensive pages that used to crash within seconds. Page up and down works agian, too!

The file should be recreated. Hopefully only the old one was corrupt. If it still works poorly a new profile with bookmarks moved over might be best.

thanks that seems to work, but I think that file keeps getting created? What should I do?

Is the only solution a shell script that manually deletes this file and launches firefox?

Ok, try to remove
~/config/settings/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/ *** /compreg.dat
and see if that helps. *** is one of the profile-dirs with a funny name.

and see which one describes your situation better

Works fine here. Try renaming your ~/config/settings/mozilla-dir temporarily and see if it works better. If it does something is fishy with your profile. Otherwise it's either time to reinstall or upgrade your Firefox.

We're working on beefing up message-handling. The Mozilla-code just changed (to our advantage) and we havn't yet made our code work nicely with those changes.
