BeOS 5.03 + BONE 7a. Downloaded the one for BONE. I deleted my old Mozilla folder including the ~/home/config/settings/Mozilla before installing. When I run it this is all I get.

WONDERFUL!

This is finally worthy of replacing Net+!

Now, only thing we need is a memory-residency to make it load near instantly EVERYTIME!

Should not be too difficult, though I am not familiar with the mozilla code outside of some poking at BMozEmbed, which I have done little of.

in main() before the application object is created, search to see if the memory resident is there (just the app loaded with no windows open), if it is, tell it to bring up a window, otherwise load the app.

I think that shouldn't be too hard :-)

If one really wanted, s/he could create a firefox_server which will load at startup, and then any requests will just tell the server to open a window. Easy enough, I'd say. :-)

Hi,

I tried to remove the old Firefox dir and do a fresh install. It doesn't work. Running from Terminal, i get:

nsNativeComponentLoader: GetFactory(libimglib2.so) Load FAILED with error: General OS error
nsNativeComponentLoader: GetFactory(libnsappshell.so) Load FAILED with error: General OS error

When i link these libs from MozillaFirefox/components to ~/config/lib it starts to ask for all libs remaining.

Well, since there was the announcement of the Mozilla team change I have to say the "build a week" sorta thing going on is more then impressive. First few I had major problems with & was again really disheartened. I can't say that about this & the last build. Not only is it faster then any *nix but it's extreemly functional to where I'm starting to think if they can speed it up a bit more I'll not be using net+ as my default browser any more. The only thing I can find wrong is it feels a tad breakable just because some things aren't super smooth & I can't drag 'n drop items to customize my tool bar... I'll not cry over that because you guys have done a wonderfull job.

Though I cannot visit ssl pages. Do I really have to link all .so libs?!

Thank you for this port, it is the fastest Mozilla I've ever used on BeOS!
However, there was a little initial problem: to make it work, I had to make a link for all .so libraries in the /boot/home/config/lib directory.

Import Bookmarks, Amazon not working

Great progress on the mozilla-browsers! My sincere thanks for that in all eternity..:)

Now, how can I migrate my bookmarks from Mozilla to Firefox? I thought moving the bookmarks.html would do it, but Firefox doesn't reccognise the bookmarks.

A more severe problem is that Amazon is not working anymore (at least the German site Amazon.at /.de) - I get a message to enable my cookies, but I do *have* them enabled. So my wishlist and the shopping basket do not work anymore, rendering the Amazon-website totally useless :-(
On the Windows-version of Mozilla/Firefox, it works fine.
Any idea what's wrong here?

brg,
Hugh

Didn't see that there has come a "-2" to the Mozila build. I just downloaded it and I have to take back my former talkback.

Scrolling a lot on zenja's site does show a crash (in my case, using a fairly recent moz CVS build).

The stack crawl isn't too helpful (it's not a debug build), but it seems to originate in libjs.

Well loading www.scanlinez.org seems much slower in the experimental firebird build than in my most recent mozilla build. Usually this is not the case but in this version despite the claims of a speed up it seems slower at least for that site.

Firebird build (04/02/04) - if you enable smooth scrolling from the advanced options screen, you get wonderful screen corruption following the scroll wheel which allows smooth scrolling. That region isn't invalidated. Otherwise, a snappy release (compared to what we used to have), it is now my default BeOS browser. Well done everyone.

How's printing coming BTW? :^)

keep up the great work, many thanks

Hi, Guy's. I posted a comment.. looking for suggestion for a good Browser. Is it possible to add a Link like the ones at the top of the page to search for a persons Name, making it easier to find the Post and Reply.? Thankx.
I would like to make a suggestion that would help your a
Browser. I would like to see a Patch made for one of the browsers on this site would do do the following.
It would go something like this, dnload update, run Attachtoggle.exe {Don't have to be called that}, the exe goes over to the Browser program and removes a section of code and replaces it with the new section that toggles the ability
to send and recieve attachments. Their could also be a reverse exe modul to undo this patch or the original saved and rewritten if someone wanted to revert back., or it could be a permentant part of the program. I would also like to see a second exe Program Modifier, and could be called a Redirect
Modual. What this does is checkes the http:// browser line, {I forget what they call it} and does a compare to see if a person has a Phony http address {You know the strange caracters that appear their sometimes, and the FilxTrap} and then Patch Modual redirects the program to a Known or Valid Http:// address. I think this would be a good modification to
current Browser software. Regards.

Are you using net_server or BONE? Builds for one will most likely not run in the other (certainly BONE builds will not run in net_server, might work the other way around).

It is not usually required to delete the old install, but if you experience problems it might be a good idea. Make sure to delete the settings directory (/boot/home/config/settings/["Mozilla" or "Phoenix"].

Bookmarks don't work at all in the latest builds of Firebird - under mozilla they work fine though.

To swap shortcut keys in firebird, try going to "about:config". Filter on "ui.key" - then make accelKey 18, generalAccessKey 17, and menuAccessKey 17

That should work, although I have seen firebird not apply these changes, in which case you need to edit the preference file manually.

I'm using Firebird (Mozilla/5.0 (BeOS; U; BeOS BePC; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030921 Firebird/0.7+ according to the about panel) and want to switch the ALT & CTRL function hotkeys/function keys like I could in the regular Mozilla release.

I've also been having MAJOR problems trying to get a new version of Mozilla to run, whenver there is one. I also seem to lose my bookmarks alot. Is it best to erase the install and install the new version clean?

To anyone who has permissions to upload stuff to mozilla.org - and if that still means Paul, isn't it about time to switch component owners, now that he is off the project?

BTW, my request for 1.7a-netserever was mostly directed to François Vincent who kindly provided the previous build.

Thanks for anyone involved,

Prog.

To whom you are telling that?

How about uploading 1.6 to mozilla.org?

We haven't had anything on http://mozilla.org/releases since v1.1 and http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.6 is also glaringly missing a BeOS version.

When Bezilla is making such a huge progress, this is not a time to be a no-show at mozilla.org

BTW, a new 1.7a-netserver build would also be welcome.

Thanks!

I thought it was gone (was especially noticeable with FFM mode). But probably with latest crashfix it is back.
if you mean last bone-build, try following (that test will help development) - go to bezilla community page (link at bottom of page) and get there from link little zip arhcive with updated libwidget_beos.so. Replace existing lib and try if this behaviour is still here
