I will have to do some investigation on what is causing the problem... glad to see that it is just me that has the problem, if it is something with QF I will be shure to have it ironed out for the next version.
Thankyou for your input!

>should be pretty simple under Zeta. right-click >"firefox-bin", select "Add-Ons/FileType". In the >"signature" field, type "application/Firefox" and >save.
Done that, doesn't work! Links where still opened with the older Firefox. I renamed the config/setting/mozilla/firefox and renamend the folder Firefox before installing the new one.
Now I removed the older firefox and links are still
not opened.
>If necessary, you can open the preferences panel, go >into Filetypes and set application/x-vnd.Be.URL.http >.https and .file to use Firefox as the default >application.
Done that too, doesn't work either.
When I try to open an html file, it says:
"could not find an application to open ......."
"would you like to find a suitable application to open
the file?"
When I select yes it comes up with "zip-o-matic-z"!?
In preferences there is an firefox-bin too.
Do I need to select that one instead of Firefox?
AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHHH!

Opens immediately here, too. Have you tested to insure this isn't an issue with QuickFox customizations? Like deleting /boot/home/config/settings/mozilla and letting Firefox create a new profile?
Oh, sorry, you're not listening until after the problem is fixed... ;)

should be pretty simple under Zeta. right-click "firefox-bin", select "Add-Ons/FileType". In the "signature" field, type "application/Firefox" and save. If necessary, you can open the preferences panel, go into Filetypes and set application/x-vnd.Be.URL.http .https and .file to use Firefox as the default application.
Bear in mind, these are development builds and packaging is not the focus. We're trying to get the latest builds out to the community as quickly as possible for use and feedback. Others have left talkback comments as to why we don't spend more time packaging the Bleeding Edge versions.
Having said that, though, we're also experimenting on ways to make installation more friendly for the user community and future Bleeding Edge builds will reflect this.

In some cases it can, but it needs work before it can be done correctly. Also, only some libs should be placed in lib-dir. SSL can stop working, you may run out of add-on memory and other bad things will happen right now.

Hi,
Thanks for all the great work, the ZETA version works quite nice.
Can the build be set up to put all the .so files into a /lib subdirectory? Doing that allows for you to run the binary without having to use the script.

I hope new mouse code code and taking in account "ListenForResizes" flag in Create() will help a bit.
I don't feel resize with latest seamonkey and same machine as lightgestalt's one is especially slow or really slower than before.

did it crash at the top level or after clicking down into the site? Also, any info on the crash (reason, stack crawl, etc.) might help us figure out why. I tried it here (with Zeta build) and was able to view the main page without a crash.

Right click firefox-bin select Filetype. Do save in Filetype and relaunch. You might also verify that it's not using any of the launch-flags, single launch and such.

Sometimes, you can right-click on the .jar files, and save them into the profiles extensions folder.
For example, I would put them here:
/QuickFox/profiles/extensions/theme.jar
Exit FF, and then when you start up, you should be promted to install the theme.
(minus the annoying 5 second timer, which will be eliminated in my next version of QuickFox)

First of all this new version is great (net_server).
I am behind a company firewall. Is that any reason why themes are starting to download but not finishing (and just vanish from the themes window)?
The themes are all .jar files, but when I install extensions .xpi files, they install without any problems.
Thanks

Hey s_d,
I just want to say thank you for the time/effort you put into implementing X-axis mouse wheel support. I must admit that I haven't tested it yet though, as I was waiting for the FF version (and now I have to wait until the d/l ends... 56 Kbps suxor :-P).
Thanks again to you, and of course, to the rest of the team.

I'm una`le to duplicate the behavior you describe here. As a test, you might move /boot/home/config/settings/mozilla folder to a safe place (out of config/settings) and let Firefox build a clean profile. It may abort on the 1st run but should restart cleanly after.

Thanks for the suggestions for changing scroll speed in the latest Zeta release. I used a value of 8, which seems to be the right number for me.
The Find feature doesn't do anthing on this release- is there any way to fix it? I recall an earlier release with the same problem.

I generally have CPU cycles and personal time to post three versions: R5, BONE and Zeta. Going forward, the development team agrees dynamic builds are more in keepin with standard mozilla practice. I will continue to create optimized, dynamic versions for these two platforms. I will also build a static, optimized Zeta version (generally the fastest) because that's what I use day-to-day. Of course, adventurous souls are welcome to create the build of their dreams - the source is out there!

According to Mozilla practice, NORMAL RELEASES are dynamically-linked releases.
Static builds were made as kind of exclusion, for special purposes and testing.
I mean builds for other OS-es.
Also, static builds are very bad for developers/development, so usually right place for that is when real milestone is built - like official release or release candidat.
I think you can freely build FF yourself, following wiki.bebits.com instructions. Statically, dynamically and with even more good tweaks

s_d is right, this can be changed with about:config. Exact item to tweak is "mousewheel.withnokey.numlines" default is "1". Setting this to "3" should restore the behaviour you're used to.

As I mentioned in the release notes, the latest R5 and BONE builds are dynamically linked, out of respect for those running older hardware with limited RAM. Functionally, they're identical but only pull modules in to memory when needed. Therefore, the main binary is much smaller.

Don't pull out what you don't know.
In BeOS implementation of Mozilla original step provided
by system was replaced by HARDCODED value 3.
And those mozilla "tweaks" you pointed, allowed to "multiply" or "override" it.
But tigerdog said truth.
Sorry, Mr X, but even if tigerdog isn't coder himself (neither you, as I understand), he is more competent here, as is involved in everyday work at Mozilla.

As temproary solution until we decide new step for scroll, enter about:config in URL-bar,
type
scroll
in filter field and look at available options.
you should disable system value for choosen option and then set your desired step for "user" option
