Well, it seems locale's don't work with this one. Dunno why. (I tried Swedish myself).

If we find out I'll do an updated build.

I tried a selfmade locale package (fr-FR) used before on my build and i can not used it with this release (install ok but fifefox never started again). I made the install with a new empty profile.

Because static builds are just horrible if you want to do any development with the source-code you built from. I rather do many builds and tweak and fix things until I'm happy with how it works and with a static build it would take forever to rebuild.

Once in a while when I want to see how fast a Firefox on BeOS can run I do a static build with many optimizations, but I always fall back to the ordinary builds. They are better for most users. You can always build your own static builds.

I'm using Firefox/BONE version 0.93 Release build 20040909.
I've installed this extension (it is a Russian language pack as you see) http://www.mozilla.ru/unghost/firefox/0.9.2/Firefox-0.9.2-ruRU-langpack.xpi
On this page http://www.mozilla.ru/unghost/firefox/russian.html
said that it is for 0.92, but should work on 0.93 as well.
After installing it and relaunch of firefox it just doesn't start anymore, so i have to replace my profile with empty one http://www.bebits.com/bob/17861/EmptyProfile.zip

Any ideas?

Btw, BIG thanks for your work BeZilla team! Firefox begin to be more and more solid with every new build.

P.S. Why not static build? Aren't they smaller?

Well the problem is that, there was and still is to some extent, other BeBits pages for Mozilla / Firefox making it hard to know what's what no matter how we do it. ATM we have all builds done by Bezilla devs or supporters under Bleeding Edge as it's supposed to be more than just straight CVS builds. (CVS builds for BeOS are horrible btw).

I've tried talking to the person with the Firefox entry, but he wants to use the entry. (Personally I think it's confusing and uninteresting for the users to get CVS builds, but it's not up to me).

But Firefox entry is captured by man who don't work on Firefox actually.

First, let me state that I highly value the hard work done by the BeZilla team... Please take what I'm about to say as constructive criticism, and know I only say it to help clear up any potential confusion... :D

It seems that everytime I spot this Mozilla/Firefox page as having been updated on the BeBits page, and I go to see what is new, I'm a little lost as to discern what has actually changed.

Most of the regular BeBits entries have the version and last modified date quite apparent, and this is as it should be.

For this page, there are versions/entries going back several months, making it unclear what to download.

Is it not possible to adjust this page so that only two versions are shown? BONE and net_server, with the latest compiled-in changes of course.

As it is now, I find the page cluttered with too many versions and unnecessary information.

Thanks gang. I know you work hard, and I only bring this up to help in some small way.

Make a directory (by example, /boot/home/plugins) and create links to popular Mozilla plugins (soundplay, flash, realplayer, svgplugin...).

Add to /boot/home/config/boot/UserSetupEnvironment the following environnement line :
export MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH=/boot/home/plugins

Reboot to take care and now, all yours mozilla/firefox/phoenix installation got plugins ready !

Flash and mozilla no way.

Ok, I found out It by myself. If you wanna use Flash you have to create a folder in your mozilla or firefox folder. Name this folder plugins (since there was no plugins folder) and create a link to your flash plugin or copy your flash plug in in there. It is working very well on Firefox (bone), but not with mozilla bone. The netserver versions runs fine with both. So if you use bone and wanna flash try firefox.

Have you tried this under other platforms? I don't think it's a BeOS specific bug. My windows build do often post that message, but I havn't tried it in forms.

I suggest you file it as a real Firefox bug at http://bugzilla.mozilla.org as I can't help with that one.

don't know what can be done about this, but probably the single most annoying bug with Firefox (and Mozilla) is when you try to submit a HTML form and it tells you there is no document data to submit.

I've had issues where FF has said it did nothing when in fact it wiped the contents of the form.

Hi all, I´m new here (and new with Beos).

I´ve modified the Yellowtab theme from Alazanto (http://www.alazanto.org/yellowtab) to work with the last Firefox version (this version and the next, I supose:). This theme gives Firefox a look similar to Netpositive.

The Yellowtab theme modified is in http://www.oronetes.net/webs/beos

Sorry If the download goes slow, I only have a minimal dsl:)

Bye all.

Right : the last build 0606 runs fine with profile under ~/config/settings/Mozilla/Firefox/... and not under ~/config/settings/Firefox/ .

Just copy the interresting files (bookmark.html...) from old Firefox profile in new 'mozilla' profile and it rules.

a) You shouldn't need to change the signature even though it doesn't do much harm, except that BeOS thinks it's a Mozilla browser.

b) I can put up a workaround when I get back from work. Namely an empty new profile. This of course means that your old profile isn't being used.

By the way...

The wrong signature error message can be solved by changing the app signature to application/x-vnd.Mozilla...
When I did it, the error message disappeared, but the app would not launch anyway because of the other problem.
Was it a right thing to change the app's signature as I did?

However, a workaround for the problem would be very nice...

So you say it's a profile problem don't you? I bet it's going to be a pain to solve it and a pain for me to download the working version (5.6kbps dialup), so why don't you post some kind of workaround to the problem? I mean... A way to modify the profile manually or something like that...
If it's possible, I would be VERY thankful... IE has become a pain in the ars, so I really need your browser!

Thanks

No problem :)

I'm on my way with fixing Firefox though. I know the problem and why it don't start but have yet to come up with the 'right' solution.

With the nice weather outside it's taking a bit longer though.

We are all just grateful that you are working on Firefox! No need to apologize for anything. Moz/FF is/are one of the most important applications for the BeOS and you guys are all doing a great job on it.

And don't ever feel offended by what some people write when reporting bugs here (and I don't think anyone ever means to be offensive here)... I think we all get so excited that you are doing so much work on it that we forget HOW much WORK it really is and how frustrating it can be to port something so complicated that is not designed for the BeOS.

Thanks!

Ya one thing I've noticed for a while is that Firefox creates two directories in your config settings folder. one firefox & one mozilla. I saw this build tries to make one, mozilla & then tuck the firefox folder in it. Much cleaner thankfully. I hope when all is fixed things will remain clean but who knows what whacky things you guys will have to dodge or deal with from the main src tree over time :) Thanks for your work!
