Thanks for the positive comments. Be sure to try out cd-empogger http://www.bebits.com/app/3121 - I think you will like that too. It does the same thing but makes a better job of it.

Hey Thanks for your positive comments. That idea of yours is a good one - I have already had the idea of maybe getting it to pop the drive open and ask for a CD when there isn't one in the drive. I need to ensure I can get it to locate the correct drive on anybody's system. Leave it with me . . . ;O)

Cool, I tried it out. I never knew that shell scripts could be so powerful, e.g. use functions. Well I guess coming from the world of (laughable) DOS batch scripts it's not surprising.
I have some suggestions, if you don't mind. When you start the script and you have no CD in the drive, it quits. It would be better to give the user a "Do you want to try again? Y/N" prompt.
