I love your app, but I've noticed that if I have my system locked for over 2 hours, I am greeted with a blank screen and can't log in. This has happened on multiple systems. I have to hit the reset botton.
Other than that, it is a great app. Thanks

You can handle the ctrl+alt+del window, by sending it a quit message whenever it is shown... no need to make an input_server addon.

With 101 talkbacks, I'm probably not the first to note this. But, on the screenshot page, there's a spelling error on the login window.
Reads: "You are not currently logged inn."
That should be "in" not "inn." Hehe. Maybe the screenshot is old; I haven't used LW yet so I wouldn't know.

heh,
hey man. we haven't talked ni a bit but I have a suggestion for the New LW. I noticed a change in the way the pictures are loaded that could be a potential threat. With out realizing it I made a skin that could be described much like a signal light... Well if a user is using that skin & then some one tries to access thier computer. Ordinarily this would just be a big password guessing fest for the offender trying to break in through the active LW, but in my scenario the guy trying to break into lets for scenario's sake his roomates computer has ROAD RAGE! He sees that yellow & red light & flips the hell out smashing the roomamtes monitor & kicking his chasis accross the room!!! 8^0
Good work man thanks for the app... let me know when version 1 is about to be plopped out & I'll try to make a new set of skins if not one killer skin for it!

there are two resons why i havent fixed the ctrl+alt+del
1. Then you could simply turn it of by pressing the power button
2. It is impossible, because the input_server which spawns the team manager intercepts it before the app_server does, and therefor my app cannot stop it.....
what do you think about it except for that?

I think its kinda useless when any user can go the computer in target, and press ctrl-alt-delete, and "wee" all the work gets lost. You should really try to lock those keys anyhow, then it might get usefull... (I know that there still is an reset button on the computer though he)

hey,
thats ok man. I found a good placemnt in the range availible & it looks good. You know what would be cool? A second & third clock/timer that shows uptime & another that shows the time the system has been locked. So far it's cool & I dig it. Keep up the good work. dotn worry about the fashnig. if it bugs people too bad you have given the option to disable it. So you bases are covered. Maybe I should add this to my BeOS distribe with the random set up I have so each boot you have a differant skin? Set it up with no name or password & instuctions to just hit enter to log in for the first time & then guide them through adding their log in... I need to get that distrib smaller though & find a few more hosts b4 I can re-release it. ok I'm rambling hehe outa'

There is a reason why the clockrange is so small.
Otherwise the whole screen would be blinking.
Until i fix that bug, you will have to settle with the up in the corner:-)

well I must say I dig the clock but the flashing may pose a health hazzard to epileptics. j/k the clock has a small placement range when I saw X Y I treid moving the clock to below the picture into the bottem left hand of the screen but the clock will dissapear with an X Y out of the box area that you can see flashing in the top right hand corner when it's running. the color masking on the preference panel & application are still there... I wish I knew how to fix it to help but I'm clueless. I just try to make it pretty! heh. take care & thanks again.

Hey man!
great to see another version. I look forward to trying it out... sadly I can't download it right now. Seems BeWicked has gone from a few hits per day to a few hundred per hour. right now my server is so hammered I'm lucky I'm able to make this post... I have tried a few times to dl LW but it lags drags & dies. At first I thought it was your host & then noticed my servers hard drive chugging like a fat over weight marathon runner. Poor thing - hope it holds up. Anyway I'm in search of a second & third host for these guys but I may switc it back to the cnet dl that you have to update for a bit & revamp mine to be smaller & not so quickly put together.

I use WindowShade along with changing colors in the menu preference panel. Either way the background in the LW preference panel & the login screens both have a white background when you start typing. I'll email you a shot of what I'm talking about so you can see.

Ya it has a bad white masking behind the text as it's input. Even in the prefes panel. I've never been too bothered by it to mention it but just to let you know it is there. I only know one person that runs the standard BeOS colors & my system is usualy really dark. Anyway ttyl & take care.

2. Fix that color-thing in the TextControl area
(takes me about 2sec to fix)
As I suggested below, can you please fix this, it looks horrible. Just make the text field white or the colour you type in match the colour in the text field.

This app needs dynamic resizing for different display setups. not everyone has a 1024x768 display. Making this app resize so that it will fit a person's screen better will possibly help this app ... the only problem I see with that is taht the themes would have to be resized too.
Is there a way to make Lock Workstation resize dynamically and internally resize the wallpaper from the themes with it ? or possibly scale the wallpapers from the Lock Themes using something inside of Lock Workstation ?
This is just an idea I'm throwing around. It looks like it might improve the UI of Lock Workstation somewhat ...

The StartLock "app" is a shell script, and is editable in styled edit and vi. So you can easily just go in there and customize it.
On another note, lock workstation is very cool.
Some things I'd like changed a bit, the text entry fields should be white from the beginning not just as you type, or they should be a transparent colour. It's a big ugly having the box become white as you type.
Other than that, thumbs up :)
