Actually, when we did the recording, we only wanted to entertain ourselves....
We had some wine before (not much! really!) and went to the Stadtpark with our DAT-Recorder (by coincidence, we had one with us...) and, well, simply waited for the ducks to come!
Fortunately, there were lots of old grannies feeding them, so there actually was quite a horde of 'em.
;)
Funny, how many people like it...
Guess we'll have to produce more of this stuff - recommendations to tagheron@gmx.de or moscht@gmx.de (animals are hard to get, by the way...)

I saw a talk back comment on the front page & wondered what this was... So I read through the talk backs & after laughing a while down loaded it. While I go this to try it out for comical value I found that even though a duck's quack ISN'T my idea of a peacfull a calming this app IS calming. Seems silly but its rather soothing, & I must say dude... too much free time or not you should make more of these with differant locations & sounds, or one big app that allows you to select rain forest or jungle - duck pond or what ever... hell dude New age stores would charge $30 for a tape of this!!! haha. but I'm sure there would be some people out there that would dig "Eviro Control" you could have your normal tunes playing & have a thunder storm going on in the back ground. I'm sure you could just get a relaxation cd & rip it. play it back via Cl-Amp while you play your normal tunes Via Soundplay or something but it's not as cool as controlling your ducks!!! hehe. Anyway dude I think it's Ironically cool & I'm keeping it! Thanks

Thanks to those kind people who provided translations. Interestingly, I was talking to Bill Gates on the phone last night, and he told me that in an attempt to outflank this new threat to Windows' dominance, MS is patenting "a software device for the replay, or continuous replay, of animal-generated noises, including those made by triphibious avians in German towns known for their theological colleges". I tried to argue "prior art" with him, but he wasn't having a bar of it. Look out, Maurice, I'd expect a nasty phone call from a MS lawyer any day now!

I wrote this little app few months ago, but I thought, that there might be someone out there who loves to listen to some ducks. I am sorry for the malfunctioning link to my tripod page. I will try to make a mirror later.
For those who don't know what this application is all about: YES! It *is* useless! I just had too much freetime ;-) and was amazed about the ducks of Tübingen (the town, where the sounds were recorded).

About Duck Control:
Small application that turns your workarea into a duck pond. Check it out! (German version only!)
This application plays soundfiles taken from recordings of ducks. The background sample is looped and lots of duck quacking (for example) can be triggered either randomly or by pressing a key. Thanks to the BeOS-Media-Kit, "Duck Control" has very low overhead and runs on any BeOS 5 system!

"About Entenkontrolle (=Duck Controll):
Little application to change your office into a duck pont. Be suprized! (German version, only!)
This programm plays sounds, recoreded from ducks. The backgroud sample has been looped. Per button-click, additional duck quaking can be activated. Thank to the BeOS-Media-Kit, "Entenkontrolle" uses low recources und runs on every BeOS-5-System!"
Seems pretty useless to me. :)

" Small program, in order to transform your work room into a duck pond. Let ' you surprise! (German version, only!) This program plays sound files, which come from duck accommodations. That background-cSam-polarizes was geloopt and by coincidence or by push of a button can e.g. Entengequake be connected. " duck check " needs very few system performance owing to BeOS Media kits and functions on each BeOS-5-System!"
