in fact both of the Zeta related links worked. The BeOS binary has disapeared along with BeZip and I couldn't get an R5 environment set up on my machine. Also, stability of the R5 version is significantly lower due to both weaknesses in the code and R5's USB stack.
Still I've uploaded old sources now for those not running BeOS or Haiku.

If you like, please contact me by eMail and I'll send you a version with full debugging messages. Send me the debug log for the first try and I'll have a chance to see what's different about your model or configuration.

- Tested under beosmax3 + usb_patch for usb_scsi : Exposure don't find the camera
- Tested under Zeta rc3 : the camera is found but exposure can't not access to it... after 2 or 3 tries, KDL !

Or, if you have some coding skills, you can help already existing BeOS USB mass-storage project:

I actually discovered this one myself when playing around in Linux - I can wait till OpenBeOS has a complete USB bus manager to use the camera with BeOS :-)

FinePix2600 don't use proprietary protocol, it emulates normal usb mass-storage.
So i'm afraid it is wrong place to look for solution.
If only yT really has any source code (which i doubt heavily), solution will be in improvement of Dano-s usb<->scsi transformation module (/boot/beos/system/add-ons/kernel/busses/scsi/usb).
In Lunux Fuji FinePix2600 and all other modern cameras work just such way - as SCSI disk via scsi-usb wrapper.
Be Inc started this work, but afaik, their module don't work with modern card readers or cameras, which may be fixed - in case someone has access to Dano sources:)

Is the source included or will it be made available? its the only USB add-on, and I'm trying to whack my Fuji FinePix 2600 USB into working...

The plugin uses the USBKit which of course relies on USB working correctly. Easiest way to check is via USB Deskbar View, a tool that I like much. If the camera shows up here, it should do so in Exposure. If it doesn't
- try Dano which has improved USB support (UHCI and
OHCI)
- wait for Zeta which should have Dano's level of
support (or better?)
- try a USB PCI card with a supported chip
(basically what I had to do)
- give up...
|
|
| Still doesn't show up in Exposure. |

I was going to try and write a driver for my camera (KODAK DX3900), using a combination of linux sources, and one of the drivers for other digital cameras, however all the ones I found were using the USBKit, which I found, and failed to even get the Class ID, etc of my camera -- any hints?

And where is the correct place to install it? If I read the Exposure instructions correctly, I created a folder "~/config/lib/BDCP_Plugins" and put the plugin there. But it doesn't show up in the program.
