Overall not bad, apart from wiping my 'home' directory :(

Being a BeOS user since its very beginnings on intel (x86) platform I have used quite a lot of various apps of this sort and could say this one generally was not that bad if it hadn't wiped and completely destroyed my 'home' directory including all of its contents. Fortunately I could save at least the rest of the file system and the rest of the disk but I am sure I will never again use an app like this. Eventhough it is "free", it is actually not free and has cost me a real lot. Anyway it is way more feature poor than the real and only decent code-style HTML editor for BeOS/Zeta - InSite Constructor - http://www.bebits.com/app/2354.

Thks

Memory Leak

When using the application under R5, it's memory consumption constantly increases until the entire RAM is occupied (half a gig should be enough for editing a 50K file ;) So, I have to restart the program every half an hour to not let the system run out of memory.

I REALLY LIKE THIS APP!!!
It works correctly with russian codepages, has fast editing and tags inserting, it looks nice - I will use only Globe Webeditor for page's editing! Mozilla SUCKS!!! DarkSite SUCKS!!! Only Globe Webeditor is REALLY GOOD.

Seems like a good text html app!

The Austin bug took a test drive of this last weekend. I know only enough to write a simple page while others were at or near expert level. We found few faults and did like some of the features. The automatic help is a feature I would need. Useful when you know only know the first letter too. Only the tags with that letter show up. Cool. The closing tags seem to have been printed and the choices of colors are endless. I would need to have a color target to see what colors I have chosen. Overall seems pretty nice. I didn't see any crashes. Not sure if one could choose a different test browser other than netpositive but didn't have time to look that deeply.

Main window freeze if you choose File -> Save As dialog and don't redraw anymore until you close that dialog.

Bugreport & some questions

OK, now i've used it some more and can write what's wrog :)
As i wrote before redrawing sidebar doesn't work too well.
Tag popup doesn't work with end-tags ("</").
In tags sidebar, attributes which has menu (they're radio type in tags settings file) has bigger font used than others in a place containing attribtes "content". Also it would be good if i could edit that content there as with other types of attributes instead of jumping to "textarea" of Globe.

Can You make an option in Preferences (as i know that probably not all people will like that) which will tell tags sidebar to accept attribute's content change after clicking to another one? it would be faster for me that hiting enter each time.
IMHO when in Tags sidebar, it would be better if TAB key could be used to jump to editing next attribute, instead of putting tab char in attribute's content (tab is never used in attribute - unless someone really wants it, and later try to find out why one of id's doesn't work :) - that would speed up editing.

It would be great if i could drag&drop some file to Globe's window and it would open it as new tab (or paste to current tab - maybe an option popup or in Preferences?).
Drag&drop text from Globe to, for example, StyledEdit works great, but not the other way around (from StyledEdit to Globe).
Also VERY usefull would be if i could drag&drop text from one tab to another (for example drag text over tab's tiltle i want to paste, active tab would change, drop text where i want it to paste on new tab's text).

Now i know i can change panel's location in window :) But it's not always working - i mean when i drag panel (using two-lines part of it) sometimes i have to move few times around the place i want it to be. Maybe You could make "drop area" for panels a little bit bigger? So it would catch panel's new position faster (faster because of my lack of skill, not because of slow code in Globe :)

As to syntax upper/lower case etc.. i know i can change it in htmltags.rdat file :) But if i wanted 2 types of syntax and created other file there (let's say xhtmltags.rdat), will You add menu in Globe, so i can chose which syntax to use?

Do You plan to add (somewhere in preferences maybe? or just a menu item "edit syntax file" which will open htmltags.rdat file in Globe) syntax editor?
Will there be a way to edit keyboard shortcuts for Globe?

THX again for Your work :)

Get fixed package, people... it is already here!

It looks promising, but still needs some work. (please don't treat what i write as trolling or something, i just would like to have good editor on BeOS and Globe looks like it can be one :)
panel ("sidebar", both with search/tag attribs and search) doesn't update "in real time" only after a second or so. Also it doesn't redraw correctly after maximize, or changing it's size.
tag "pop-up" doesn't work with "</" only with start tags.
i can get used to documents tabs on bottom but maybe there could be an option to put it on top (over textarea, below menu)?
syntax highlight doesn't work if i'll write tag myself, without help of menu or popup, using lower-case.
From w3c xhtml specification "In XHTML 1.0, elements and attributes are specified in lower-case.". I know it's HTML editor not XHTML, but XHTML probably will replace HTML. Could You make an option which way to use (as i would like to write docs for xhtml)?
Wanted to ask about php and similar things but i've already found it ("<TAG NAME='php' TEXT='PHP' PUT='<?php\n%c\n?>'>" in htmltags.rdat file :)

THX

ChangeText(unsigned char) - i'm wondering if you trying to put single char here as parameter instead string, but maybe there is other reason to crash

Crash right after start :(

I've been waiting for a new version of this app. While I still use pe for my editing needs, I've really been watching this app and really hope it can grow to be a Homesite replacement - cuz then I can get the wife over here to BeOS.

Keep up the great work!

sorry

While I see this as being a good step up as previouly said for other languages I dislike this app. Aside from the fact the dl took about 4 hours for 800k it has no support for color schemes & this is my biggest gripe. While afaik I'm the only one that seems to care about being able to shape my workspace it bothers me that day after day I'm stuck looking at white screens that blast me with light & black text. For this seemingly obscure need I have I think I'll stay with BeIDE... nice & dark...

Good for non-english users especially

It is very convinient editor, and works correctly for non-enlish encodings, which is not so freqent in BeOS world.
Eddie, with all this feature, does not allow create nor pages neither code (e.g. comments or "text strings") even for such western languages as German, French etc.
Its abilities are restricted with 7-bit ASCII. So no any comparison in this sense.

Good work Roger!

Not Eddie yet.

I really think it has potential, but it doesn't outshine Eddie yet. FTP capabilities and CTRL+Arrow word skipping.
The other features are really great though, good work!
