This app is truly one of the best in BeOS right now . My only prob was with that pattern_addon thing but i fixed that .

I love this program. I am have always had issues trying to stay in BeOS considering I do graphics design and I use Photoshop quite a lot. This program shows a lot of promise in being able to do a good deal of what I want a graphics program to do. Keep up the good work and I will send some ideas to ya via email.

when it crashes with me (and I assume everyone else whose posted stack crawls, etc.) the standard balert this-app-crashed box pops up saying that the program has caused an error and that BeOS is going to kill it, along with "details" and "ok" buttons

Hmm how do you guys get the debug info frmo the crash. Everythign I have tried it just crashes no alert with error nothing. Terminal is the same its just "dies" & goes away leaving no trace why it died. :^/

After changing the patter floater addon with the updated one, Refraction crashes on launch, on the second icon:

We tried to rename the app as quick as possiblem as I had a legal deadline for 1 july 2002.
This is also the reason why we HAD to release. of course it was quite impossible to rename all, and internally we still work as Inferno.
All our code and SDK are programmed as Inferno, so it could indeed be that we forgot some refs. These will be changed in time. For now we have a new name.

I have tested some possibility for not crash refraction application. And I'm arrived at this conclusion. ColorPicker and/or PatternAddon cause crash on Dano. I will test on BeOS 5.03 after.
This graphic application is very nice and complete. Bravo.

Thanks Frans, Progress bars were not turned on when I first ran refraction but I found the option in preferences - fantastic, thanks!
I haven't emailled you yet- I'll just post here:
Colored Pencil filter doesn't work.
Sometimes no scrollbars when zoom <100%
Combo boxes keep dissapearing - need to click right on the right edge of button (to within a couple of pixels)?
Layers crashes on right-click when there's only 1 layer.
Is there any way to select "lasso" type regions - I've discovered holding down shift or ctrl to add/take off rectangular selection but want more flexibilty. I also notice quite a few inferno references (infernolibrary.so for example - and inferno mentioned quite a lot in stack crawls after crashes) - is this going to create legal problems?
I really like this tho! Seems faster than windows editing apps, and it's in BeOS - cant wait for the final V1!

The progressBar is placed on the right-bottom of the document window and works. You can edit the layout of the statusbar in the preferences.
We are working hard to get you a new updated version in which there is no longer the need for the PatternAddon. The crash in the layerWindow is fixed at this time, but as the layer window is in the progress of updating, we will release it in a few days.
A few locking mechanisms will be added and coloring of each later-item in the list to create overview in big projects.
Also the Resources page is under construction at this time.

This is certainly one of the most impressive programs being developed for BeOS/OBOS right now.
There are lots of bugs (I'll email xentronix), and the new pattern addon still doesn't work, but overall very good.
The feature I need most: Progress bars - "has it crashed, or is it just thinking?"
When the bugs are sorted, image editing can be added to the list of things I don't need to boot windows to do :-)

a wonderfull application !!
as a new app. with only a minor crash in the
floaters patternadd-on (still crashes with the 5.0.1 on my dual pentium3 heavy weight)
but I found out you can use the 'old'Inferno ZoomWindowAddon :) by testing the floaters ....the others make it crash.
great job !!

The crash-fix doesn't seem to work here either - and its worth mentioning that I seem to be able to cut from images, but not paste to them
...next release :)

Attempting to do anything with layers (ie right-clicking in the layers floater) results in a crash every time.... anyone else have this problem?
Otherwise, very nice app, looking forward to a full release!

Hi, I must remove all Floaters addons to get Refraction working. Removing only this one You mention is not enough for me. I'm using Dano. Could be this?

Delete or move the filter located here:
/boot/apps/RefractionBeta/Plug-Ins/Floaters/PatternAddon
Then it should open.

I can't seem to start the program. At "Adding Floater PatternAddon" it crashes.
Here's the error I get:
